Burton contested a season and a half in the Juniors with Douglas Motorsport. Following a strong introduction in 2018, he was a regular front-runner this year with 17 top six finishes to his name including overall podium finishes at Donington Park, Snetterton and Silverstone.
The Essex-based racer, who will celebrate his 17th birthday next week, completed a first test with Century Motorsport in their Ginetta G55 GT4 recently at Donington Park and is set to conduct an extensive winter test programme ahead of his championship debut in March.
Gus Burton: “I am delighted to join Nathan and the Century team for next season’s Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup. Century’s professionalism was apparent during our recent test day and their successes in GT championships is testament to this.”
Century Motorsport have been competing in the GT4 SuperCup since its inception in 2012, securing no less than 92 outright podium finishes. Overall champions with Tom Oliphant in 2015, they have since won the Am Class title with Michael Crees (2018) and Nathan Heathcote (2019).
Nathan Freke, Team Owner: “I’m delighted to get the opportunity to work with Gus. He was super-fast on the test we did at Donington Park and he fit in with the team very well. He clearly has a very strong natural ability and we are looking forward to helping him to progress to the next level in his career. We are hungry to win the Pro championship in 2020 and Gus is a real contender for this.”
The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship. In 2020, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship.
