The Yorkshire based team were new to Ginetta competition last year and immediately made their mark by winning the GRDC title. They’re expanding their programme for 2021, with the Junior entry joining multi-car line-ups in the GT5 Challenge and G40 Cup.

Meakin makes the move to car-racing following a successful spell in British, European and International karting across the Cadet and Junior classes. He’s got experience in a Ginetta G40 too, having completed multiple tests with Raceway Motorsport in recent months.

Zac Meakin: “I’m very happy to be moving to cars and taking on the challenges it brings. My goal for my debut season in Ginetta Juniors is to be a consistent top 10 finisher and a contender in the rookie championship.”

Raceway Motorsport have also added another name to their G40 Cup entry, Brenden Haffner. The Oldbury based racer moves up the Ginetta ladder after starting his career last year in GRDC, with a superb campaign seeing him record eight podium finishes including one race victory.

Brenden Haffner: “I unexpectedly won the want2race scholarship in 2019, which got me on the GRDC grid last year. I enjoyed the experience in 2020 and my main aim this year is to once again enjoy my racing, and hopefully have a win or two with Raceway Motorsport.”

Luca Hirst, Team Principal: “I have worked closely with Zac [Meakin] from an early age and can’t wait see him out on track racing. His competitive nature and talent from karting will transfer through during the year as he gains car experience.

“I would like to welcome Brenden to our current G40 Cup line-up. He showed great pace during the 2020 season, improving throughout the year and ending his season with a class win!’

The Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.

The Ginetta G40 Cup meanwhile is an ideal platform for drivers who have recently discarded their ‘novice’ plates to learn the ropes in a packed grid full of drivers of similar ability and experience. Popular with drivers moving up the Ginetta ladder, the series shares a grid with the GT5 Challenge.
