Preview: 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship – Donington Park

Lewis Goff has the opportunity to be crowned the 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship powered by Sunoco Race Fuels champion this weekend at Donington Park (05-06 September), with his incredible season putting him in position to potentially secure the title with a weekend to spare.

A dominant hat-trick of wins in the season opener at Donington back in April set the tone for Goff’s 2026 campaign, with another couple at Silverstone next time out making it five victories from the first six races. Further successes have since followed at Oulton Park and Zandvoort.

Those wins, plus three further podium finishes, mean the R Racing talent has a lead of 115 points at the top of the standings. If he can keep that advantage at 109 points or more at the end of the three races, he will become provisional champion prior to the Brands Hatch finale.

No less than six drivers maintain a mathematical chance of denying Goff title glory. They would each need to score some big results this weekend and see the points leader to hit trouble to make a substantial dent in his advantage and boost their title aspirations.

Three-time race-winner Harrison Mackie (Elite Motorsport) leads the chasing pack, having climbed up the standings with a run of eight podiums in nine races over the middle of the season. Harry Bartle (Pace Performance) is right with him, having picked up two wins of his own at Silverstone and Croft.

Winter Series champion Jesse Phillips is still in with a shot of adding a second title to his CV, having been a consistent podium finisher across the season. His R Racing team-mate Melvin Kalousdian shot into the top five with a spectacular hat-trick of wins at Snetterton last time out.

The final contenders are Jacob Ashcroft (Elite Motorsport) and Riley Cranham (R Racing). Both drivers enjoyed breakthrough race wins during the Ginetta Festival at Croft and have made regular visits to the podium, while Cranham’s impressed as the driver with the best qualifying record this year.

Two drivers heading into the weekend with momentum on their side are rookie talents Sebastien Leusch (R Racing) and Devon Hagelen (Elite Motorsport), with each securing their maiden overall podium finishes and rookie class wins at Snetterton last month.

The standout performances from R Racing’s drivers mean the team has won 12 of the 19 races this season. That’s put them on course to wrap up the Teams’ title with a weekend to spare and add to their impressive record of winning it in five of the previous six seasons.

Amongst those hoping to be in the battle for silverware this weekend will be two-time podium-finisher Max Murray (R Racing) and Daniel Oliver (Elite Motorsport), who has been unlucky not to pick up silverware having qualified in the top four on four occasions.

Dominic Darling (Performance One) and Vicky Farfus (R Racing) will be heading to Donington feeling confident after celebrating their best-ever results last time out. Joining them in the top ten battles this year have been Addison Smith (MDD Motorsport) and Henry Cameron (Elite Motorsport).

Josh Watts will be one to watch as he looks to add to his maiden race win back at Oulton Park, while his Performance One team-mate Noah Young has a first podium in his sights. MK Racing team-mates Bailey Doughty and Ethan Brass have both been winners in the Freshmans class this year meanwhile.

Anesu Maphumulo (RABSport Racing) has secured a number of points finishes across the campaign, while Louis Radcliffe (R Racing) and Maxim Kharuk (Elite Motorsport) head into the weekend looking to build on strong performances in their debuts at Snetterton.
