Tomenchuk Marks GT Championship Graduation With Podium

Vladislav Tomenchuk has become the latest driver to step up from the Ginetta Junior Championship powered by Sunoco Race Fuels to the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship, securing a brilliant podium finish on his debut at Snetterton.

Tomenchuk started his Ginetta journey last year, contesting the final round of the 2025 Junior season followed by the Winter Series. He contested five further events this year, regularly battling it out on the fringes of the top ten and taking a best result of ninth on two occasions.

With that experience under his belt, he took advantage of the progression opportunities available on the Ginetta UK Championships ladder to step into senior competition behind the wheel of an Elite Motorsport prepared Ginetta G56 GTP8.

Quickly getting to grips with the 390bhp V8-powered machine, the British-Ukrainian racer qualified fourth fastest in Norfolk. After a tough first race, he pulled off a late overtake in race two to secure a third-place finish and backed it up with fifth in the finale.

Words from Tomenchuk

“Ginetta Junior racing is brilliant and it really helped me develop my racecraft, which I’ve been able to bring into the new car and championship,” said Tomenchuk.

“It’s been a big jump, adapting to the bigger car with more power and slick tyres, but it’s gone well. I like the car and our pace was competitive from the off, which I’m pleased with.

“To cap it off with a podium is great! I’d like to continue running consistently in the top three for the final two rounds of the season.”

Tomenchuk is not the first driver to make the step from Juniors to the GT Championship. In fact, the last two overall champions, Mckenzie Douglass and Archie Clark, both celebrated title glory in their first full season out of Juniors.

The GT Championship is the next step on the GT racing ladder for the young talents in the Juniors. It accelerates driver development and opens up a clear route for progression into the British GT Championship and beyond.

Two rounds remain in the 2026 Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship season, with a trip to Donington Park (05-06 September) followed by the finale at Brands Hatch (26-27 September).
