Albin Lennström, a 17-year-old from Sweden, Örebro, made his Ginetta race debut at Scandinavia Raceway, Anderstorp this month for the opening round of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge season.

His racing journey began at the age of six when he started Go-Karting, following in his father’s footsteps. After competing in Karting championships up until the age of eleven, the young Swedish teenager made his race car debut in 2019. Albin decided to pursue his dream of becoming a race car driver and joined the Renault Clio Cup Junior Championship where he gained valuable experience with multiple podium finishes over three seasons from 2019 to 2012. In search of progression within motorsport, he felt it was time to advance to a more competitive championship across Sweden… This is when he discovered the Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

The Ginetta G40 GT5 race car first made its Swedish debut in 2018, since it has become the most iconic and recognisable models which represents the ultimate evolution of the G40 platform. Packed grids of Ginetta G40’s enjoys ultra-competitive single-make motorsport. Suitable for all ages and levels of race experience, the Swedish GT5 Challenge has become the go-to championship series, developing future professional drivers.

Albin Lennström, said: “The Ginetta G40 is a serious racing car, packed with excitement. Everything just felt right, from the entire racing series to the car and its significance in Sweden”.

After competing in the championship for the first time earlier this month, Albin is set to race on four more tracks this season across Denmark and Sweden; including a significant event at Donington Park, (October 21-22) where he will make his British debut in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship. The challenge of racing internationally in the Ginetta G40 GT5 will see Albin compete against 22 registered drivers in the championship. Eager to showcase his race winning potential, Albin is amongst the newest, talented drivers in the growing Swedish racing community.

The teenager’s racing career is fueled by the unwavering support of his family, especially his father who acts as both his biggest supporter who has been instrumental in his racing journey. Albin continues to seek additional sponsors to support his career and propel his ultimate goal of reaching international stardom in Formula Racing. In his current class, he is focused on gaining experience, competing for the championship title, and laying the foundation for his future in motorsport.

Looking ahead, Albin is optimistic about his future in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge as he shares his racing journey on instagram @albinlennstromracing.
