Reigning Champions Amongst First Drivers For 2025 Ginetta GT Championship

2024 Ginetta champions Nick White and Mike Taylor are among the first group of five drivers confirmed to be driving the brand-new Ginetta G56 GTP8 in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship next season.

White will be chasing a third consecutive Ginetta title in 2025, following a stunning last couple of seasons. After securing the GTA honours in the GT Academy in 2023, he went on to produce a stunning charge to the GT Championship AM class crown this year.

The Wiltshire-based racer finished on the class podium in every single race, taking 20 wins and even finishing first overall on three occasions. He will now step up to race a Raceway Motorsport-prepared G56 GTP8 with the continued support of Asset Advantage.

Nick White:

“I’m thrilled to be racing in the 2025 Ginetta GT Championship with Raceway Motorsport and continuing my partnership with Asset Advantage. Ginetta have put together an incredible car, and after testing the GTP8, I’m even more excited for what’s to come. With the great success of 2023 and 2024, I’m looking forward to picking up right where we left off!”

Taylor meanwhile will step up the Ginetta ladder to the GT Championship for his second season of racing after a sensational debut campaign in the GT Academy. He recorded a brilliant eight overall race wins and 14 podium finishes en-route to the rookie title.

After working with engineering duo Alan and Nick Mugglestone during his GT Academy season, the Buckingham-based racer has joined their Triple M Motorsport outfit for his transition to the GT Championship next year behind the wheel of the new G56 GTP8.

Mike Taylor:

“I’m thoroughly excited to be competing in the challenging new Ginetta GT Championship for 2025, backed by the wealth of experience from my chosen team at Triple M Motorsport. After a successful rookie campaign in GT Academy, we intend to show that I have what it takes to win at a much higher level of GT racing.”

Another driver stepping up from the GT Academy rookie class to the GT Championship next season will be Ali Juffali, staying with multiple Ginetta champions Elite Motorsport for his second year of car-racing competition.

Juffali showed great progression through his debut Ginetta campaign this year, finishing inside the top six overall on five occasions including a brilliant breakthrough podium finish in his final appearance of the season at Donington Park.

Ali Juffali:

“The Ginetta GT Academy was an incredible starting point, and moving on to the GT Championship is an exciting next step in my journey. I’m looking forward to building on what I’ve learned and seeing where this path takes me.”

The fourth driver confirmed to be racing a G56 GTP8 next season is Ginetta Junior graduate Alfie Davies. The teenage talent contested two partial campaigns in the series, scoring a best result of eighth overall and six Freshman’s Cup podiums this year.

Davies got his first taste of the GT Championship with a guest appearance in the championship on the penultimate weekend at Donington Park. After impressing with a hat-trick of top six finishes overall, he will remain with Breakell Racing for his full-time transition to senior racing.

Alfie Davies:

“I’m extremely proud and excited to announce I will be competing in the Ginetta GT Championship next year, having competed in a guest round in 2024. I can’t wait to continue where I left off, with the arrival of the new G56 GTP8 the series is set to provide some extremely exciting and entertaining racing. The car is simply awesome, the noise and speed are going to make it unmissable. Bring on 2025!”

Completing the first group of GT Championship drivers for 2025 is James Townsend with SVG Motorsport. Like Davies, he got a first taste of the championship with a one-off appearance this year, scoring a pair of AM class podium finishes on the opening weekend at Oulton Park.

Townsend brings plenty of experience to the grid next year, having recorded over 100 race starts in Ginetta machinery including spells in the GT5 Challenge and GT4 SuperCup. He’s raced Ginetta G56 GT4’s over the past two years too, winning the 2023 British GT ‘GT4 AM’ drivers’ title.

James Townsend:

“I’m excited to return to single-make racing. I believe the new GT Championship format is a great way to balance both the cut and thrust of sprint racing whilst being more strategic and rewarded for maintaining focus via the endurance race on Sundays. I’m teaming up with my team from last year SVG Motorsport with one goal in mind and that’s to win a championship.”

Andy Johnson, SVG Motorsport:

“We are proud and excited to announce Ginetta veteran James Townsend will be in our GTP8 line-up for next season. With his experience in British GT, BEC and GT Cup, he will certainly be fighting to be a front-runner and chasing championship success.”
