The title pendulum swung in the favour of Burns (Rob Boston Racing) during a dramatic outing last time out at Thruxton. The 2016 vice-champion secured a double victory and with it the points advantage after erstwhile leader Harry King (Elite Motorsport) lost ground.
Burns travels to Knockhill with a rich history at the circuit. In the last ten GT4 SuperCup races contested there, he has finished on the podium eight times and took a win back in 2016. He will hope to continue that fine form this weekend and add to his nine podium finishes so far this season.
King is ready to bounce back this weekend after his Thruxton disappointment. While this will be the first time he has competed at Knockhill in the GT4 SuperCup, he took a race win there when he visited in the Ginetta Juniors in 2017 and will want to increase his tally of six victories so far this year.
Only four drivers on the grid this weekend have raced at Knockhill in the championship before, including Tom Hibbert (Triple M Motorsport) and Reece Somerfield (Elite Motorsport). The latter, who celebrates his 31st birthday this week, is a two-time race-winner in the series.
Title contender Hibbert has picked up eight podium finishes across the campaign and is determined to add to his three wins so far. Two drivers going to Scotland in positive mood meanwhile are Carlito Miracco (Privateer) and Fin Green (TCR), who both finished on the podium last time out.
There are two new faces in the Pro Class this weekend. Experienced GT racer Sam Randon (Team HARD) is making his first of two appearances this year, while 2014 Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Alex Sedgwick (Rob Boston Racing) makes a welcome return to Ginetta competition.
In the Am Class, an intriguing battle of youth versus experience is developing at the top of the points standings as first year contender Nathan Heathcote (Century Motorsport) takes on Ginetta stalwart Colin White (CWS Motorsport).
Heathcote holds the advantage courtesy of five class wins and eleven podium finishes so far, one more than White on both counts. While Heathcote is competing at Knockhill for the first time ever, White has taken six Am Class wins in the last seven races here.
James Kell (Rob Boston Racing) leads the chasing pack in the points after a fantastic top-three hat-trick at Thruxton. Other drivers to watch in the class are podium finishers Jack Oliphant (Century Motorsport) and Dan Kirby (Rob Boston Racing), while double race-winner Darron Lewis (Team HARD) returns after missing Thruxton.
