The top two in the championship standings, Will Burns (Rob Boston Racing) and Harry King (Elite Motorsport), fought wheel-to-wheel in a thriller last time out at Knockhill, with Burns getting the upper hand on that occasion to extend his points lead with a podium hat-trick.
The 2016 vice-champion has now finished in the top three for the last eight consecutive races. While he has two more podium finishes to his name than King this year, his adversary has two more race wins after stunning pace at Knockhill took him to a seventh victory of the campaign.
Both drivers have to keep an eye out for Tom Hibbert (Triple M Motorsport), who remains firmly in title contention. Three wins in three meetings across the middle of the campaign, coupled with consistent podium finishes throughout, have put him on the heels of the top two.
Carlito Miracco (Privateer) has impressed in his maiden campaign with three trips to the podium so far. He’ll be targeting more silverware this weekend, as will Reece Somerfield (Elite Motorsport), Fin Green (TCR) and Simon Rudd (Rob Boston Racing), the latter returning after missing two outings.
A season high 12 car entry for the Pro Class includes fellow returnee Tom Barley (Team HARD) and exciting debutants in Alan Henderson (AK Motorsport), Kris Prosser (Team HARD), 2014 Ginetta Junior Scholar Alex Sedgwick (Rob Boston Racing) and 2019 Junior race-winner Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport).
The Am Class was fiercely contested at Knockhill two weeks ago, with the experienced Colin White (CWS Motorsport) taking a double win to overtake Nathan Heathcote (Century Motorsport) and become the new championship leader.
White is targeting a third Am title this season and now has a superb tally of 55 class victories in the series so far. Heathcote is contesting his first season meanwhile and will be one to watch this weekend as he aims to add to his six wins so far and get back to the top of the points.
Jack Oliphant (Century Motorsport) and James Kell (Rob Boston Racing) have both impressed in recent meetings. While Oliphant narrowly missed out on a maiden class win at Knockhill, Kell came home with his maiden success; expect both to be back in the mix this weekend.
Two-time class winner Darron Lewis (Team HARD) and Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport) will hope to be podium contenders too. The class entry is completed by returnees Peter Bassill (Century Motorsport), Paul Taylor (Team HARD) and Jamie Hopkins (Elite Motorsport), plus debutants Adam Lucas (Privateer) and Ginetta G40 Cup graduate Mike West (Assetto Motorsport).
