Preview: Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship, Round Four, Croft

James Hedley leads the way in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship as the class of 2019 get ready to serve up some more sensational racing this weekend at Croft.

The Elite Motorsport ace has started the season in superb fashion with a run of three race wins and six podium finishes in the opening seven races of the campaign, with those results earning the reigning Ginetta Junior Winter Series champion a healthy points lead.

Hedley’s closest challenger at present is the standout rookie talent on the grid, Zak O’Sullivan (Douglas Motorsport). He heads to Croft determined to taste victory after finishing second overall on five occasions so far, while he’ll also be keen to maintain his 100% podium record in the rookie class.

James Taylor (Richardson Racing) returns to the scene of his maiden overall podium finish last year looking to add to his two wins already this season, while Douglas Motorsport team-mates Gus Burton and Lorcan Hanafin have both shown they have the talent to fight for the wins too.

Three drivers enjoyed standout moments last time out at Thruxton. Will Martin (Richardson Racing) scored a superb maiden victory, while Ethan Hawkey (Total Control Racing) and Casper Stevenson (Richardson Racing) climbed onto the overall podium for the first time.

Stevenson is one of a number of rookie drivers to have made their mark early in the campaign, with Theo Edgerton (Total Control Racing), Josh Rattican (R Racing) and Roman Bilinski (Alistair Rushforth Motorsport) having also taken home class silverware.

Joel Pearson (Elite Motorsport) and Freddie Tomlinson (Douglas Motorsport) are amongst five Yorkshire-based drivers hoping to impress in their home event, while former race-winners Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) and Harry Dyson (Premiership Academy Racing) are ones to watch.

A stacked entry has talented rookies throughout the order, with Ben Kasperczak (Privateer), Charlie McLeod (In2 Racing), Bailey Voisin (Douglas Motorsport) and Frankie Taylor (SVG Motorsport) amongst those to have been in the top ten battles so far this season.

2019 Ginetta Junior Scholar Ethan Brooks makes a welcome return to the grid alongside his Total Control Racing team-mates Will Rochford, Daniel Gale and Haytham Qarajouli, while Premiership Academy Racing duo Molly Dodd and Ben O’Hare complete a superb 25 car entry.
