Preview: 2025 Ginetta GT Championship – Brands Hatch

Archie Clark is leading the way ahead of the penultimate round of the 2025 Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship season at Brands Hatch this weekend (23-24 August).

2025 is the first season of an exciting new era for the GT Championship, following the introduction of the V8-powered Ginetta G56 GTP8 at the start of the year. There’s a new race format this season too, with each event featuring a 20-minute sprint and 40-minute endurance run with a mandatory pitstop.

Clark (MDD Racing) stamped his authority on the championship from the off with four consecutive wins to start the season. The Ginetta Junior graduate added a fifth overall victory last time out at Snetterton, with the continued success building him a lead of over 40 points in the headline PRO class.

Robert Cronin (Elite Motorsport) is his closest challenger in the PRO ranks. The Irishman followed up a maiden win at Oulton Park with a further victory in the higher-points scoring endurance race at Snetterton, which helped him close the gap in the standings.

Hadley Simpson (Xentek Motorsport) and Jack Collins (E3 Sport) have both been regular podium finishers in their maiden Ginetta campaigns, each visiting the PRO rostrum on four occasions as they battle it out for third in the class standings at this stage.

Reigning champion Mckenzie Douglass (Fox Motorsport) has a first win of 2025 in his sights, having scored four PRO podiums in six races since his return to the grid. Cameron Pratt-Thompson (SVG Motorsport) is one to watch as he looks to add to his breakthrough podium at Silverstone.

In the PRO AM fight, only seven points separate Harry Gamble (Elite Motorsport) and Nick White (Raceway Motorsport). The latter closed the gap with his best weekend of the season so far at Snetterton, with a double class win moving him up to three victories for the campaign.

Gamble holds the advantage though having won four times so far, with both he and White having finished on the PRO AM podium in every race so far. Gamble will be heading to Brands Hatch in confident mood, having won twice there last season in the GT Academy.

Alex Duncan (Xentek Motorsport) is targeting a maiden PRO AM win meanwhile as he looks to continue an impressive run of results, having finished on the podium in four of the last five races.

In the AM class, it’s been a duel for success between Luke Shaw (Raceway Motorsport) and Ali Juffali (Elite Motorsport). Shaw got off to a fantastic start by winning the opening three races of the season, but Juffali has had the upper hand in recent rounds with four wins in the last five races.

Only six points separate them in the standings with four races to go, with Shaw holding the advantage after finishing on the class podium in every race so far. Juffali has missed out on the podium twice, but that does mean he’ll have less points to lose once dropped scores are factored in.

The first driver to break their hold on the AM wins this season was James Townsend (SVG Motorsport), with victory in the Snetterton opener being his first podium of the season and the milestone 50th of his Ginetta career to date.

Colin White (CWS) has increased his own personal tally up to 151 podiums in one-make Ginetta racing with a couple of trips to the rostrum in recent events. Equalling his tally for 2025 meanwhile has been Dominic Paul (Triple M Motorsport).

Racing siblings Emma and Amy Tomlinson (DTO Motorsport and Raceway Motorsport respectively) have each picked up a single AM podium finish so far, while Fox Motorsport duo James Rolling and Oliver Fordham are targeting their first trophies of their maiden Ginetta campaigns.
