Preview: 2022 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Snetterton

The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup crosses the halfway mark of its 2022 season this weekend at Snetterton with James Kellett proving to be the star of the show so far this year.

Preview: 2022 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Snetterton

Kellett (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport) has been almost untouchable across the opening three events in his Ginetta G56 GT4. He put together a new championship record run of seven consecutive wins. That streak did come to an end though during an action-packed final race at Knockhill two weeks ago.

The dramatic end in Scotland means that Aston Millar (DTO Motorsport) is right on Kellett’s tail in the championship standings. The reigning Ginetta Junior champion finished on the podium in each of the opening seven races. He will be aiming for a maiden win this weekend.

Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) will also be having his eye on the top step of the podium to add to his breakthrough series win in the 2021 season finale. Both he and Henry Dawes (Century Motorsport) have picked up silverware already this year.

Coming to Snetterton this weekend full of confidence will be the G56 Am leader Wes Pearce (Breakell Racing). As well as heading the class standings with five wins so far, he also made GT4 SuperCup history at Knockhill.  He became the first ever Am driver to be classified first overall in a race.

The competitive G56 Am class also features Darren Leung (Assetto Motorsport), who has picked up the other three wins on offer, plus four-time Ginetta class champion Colin White (CWS 4×4) and the ever-improving Mike Brown (Ultimate Speed Racing).

Alongside the new-for-2022 G56’s, the championship also features the G55 GT4 model this season. It’s Luke Reade (Wolf Motorsport) who’s setting the pace in G55 Pro, with a brilliant triple victory at Knockhill meaning he’s now on a run of five wins in a row.

Amongst those aiming to end his winning streak will be Conner Garlick (Xentek Motorsport), who starred at Knockhill with his first pole position and two podiums, and double class race-winner Blake Angliss (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport).

Former Junior and GT5 Challenge front-runner James Taylor (Team HARD) is one to watch as he targets a first win of the year, while British GT race-winner Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) and Josh Poulain (Motus One) are also podium contenders in a talented G55 Pro entry.

In G55 Am, Daniel Morris (Simon Green Motorsport) shot to the top of the standings with a superb Knockhill hat-trick. Ian Duggan (Fox Motorsport) previously led the way and has also won three races this season. His team-mate James Townsend and Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants) are targeting maiden successes.
