Preview: 2021 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Snetterton

The 10th anniversary season of the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup begins this weekend with what are sure to be three action-packed races at Snetterton.

Preview: 2021 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Snetterton

246 races on from its maiden outing at Brands Hatch in 2011, the GT4 SuperCup returns with another bumper grid ready to commence battle. The championship will run to a revised two-class format this season, Pro and Pro Am, across eight events and 23 races.

2020 title contender Tom Hibbert returns for his fifth full season in the GT4 SuperCup hoping to challenge for glory again with three-time champions Rob Boston Racing. The Lincolnshire racer has an impressive record of 11 race wins and 32 podium finishes in the series.

Joining him in targeting a charge for the title this year will be Adam Smalley (Elite Motorsport). The 2018 Junior champion enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign last year, winning four races and scoring more points than anyone else across the last 10 races of the season.

Elite Motorsport’s quest to regain the title they won back in 2019 is bolstered by exciting talents Tom Emson and Josh Rattican. The former moves up to the Pro class after 11 wins in Pro Am last year, whilst Rattican steps up the Ginetta ladder after challenging for the 2020 Junior title.

An exciting returnee to the grid this season is Carlito Miracco (Preptech UK). Following two years in the GT5 Challenge, he entered the GT4 SuperCup in 2019 and impressed with five podium finishes, before unfortunately having to sit out last year.

Joe Marshall (Team HARD) returns for a second campaign after scoring a top six championship finish last year, while the hugely experienced Reece Somerfield (Privateer) will be looking to add to his two race victories so far as he contests his tenth consecutive season in the series.

James Blake-Baldwin (AK Motorsport) and Luke Reade (Rob Boston Racing) will be ones to watch as they tackle their first full seasons in the series. Both have made two previous outings in the championship and been in the leading pack with top six finishes.

Three drivers will make their series debuts in the Pro class meanwhile; former GT5 Challenge racer Luca Hirst (Raceway Motorsport), MG Trophy front-runner Andy Spencer (Century Motorsport) and two-time BMW Compact Cup champion Steve Roberts (Rob Boston Racing).

Two champions from 2020 will be amongst those battling it out in Pro Am this year. The first is reigning class champion Colin White (CWS Motorsport), the most experienced driver on the grid with 206 race starts, who also has two Am title to his name from 2015 and 2016.

The second is former BTCC racer Stewart Lines (Rob Boston Racing), who won the Am crown in his debut season of Ginetta racing. He secured the title in the final race of the season from Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport), who enjoyed a sensational run of eight consecutive class victories.

Making their debuts in the championship this year are two drivers graduating from other Ginetta series; 2020 GT5 Challenge racer Blake Angliss (Century Motorsport) and 2019 G40 Cup race-winner Daniel Morris (Simon Green Motorsport).

Making their Ginetta debuts meanwhile are former Renault UK Clio Cup competitor Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants), 2018 Fun Cup Endurance champion Henry Dawes (Century Motorsport), multiple Mazda MX-5 class victor Garry Townsend (AK Motorsport) and Alexander Andersson (Preptech UK).
