Twice a runner-up previously in the GT4 SuperCup, Burns secured a long-awaited first Ginetta title last season. A brilliant display of speed and consistency saw him secure 15 podium finishes in 19 races, including five race victories.
The Somerset racer, who has also been a front-runner in the GT5 Challenge in the past, has previous experience in British GT. He scored a podium finish with HHC Motorsport in 2018 behind the wheel of a Ginetta G55 GT4.
Will Burns: “This is a fantastic opportunity, and it’s brilliant to be involved with factory support from Ginetta. They have been very successful in GT4 for many years and I’m looking forward to seeing what this year has in store.
“I have also been following the progress of Assetto Motorsport going up through the Ginetta ranks, and I have been impressed with what they’ve achieved – their vision of where they want to be in the future is also impressive.”
“With this strong combination it was a no brainer to jump at the chance to get involved, and I’m sure we will have a competitive package from the outset.”
Assetto Motorsport previously announced a pairing of Ginetta factory driver Charlie Robertson and G40 Cup graduate Mark Sansom for their first car, with Burns’ team-mate for a planned silver/silver ranked pairing to be announced in due course.
Jim Edwards, team manager: “We are extremely excited to welcome a driver of Will’s pedigree to the team, he is super fast and has an incredible record of finishing races. Will is a class act and will unquestionably be a major asset to the team.”
