Tom Hibbert (Triple M Motorsport) sits in the championship lead for the first time in his GT4 SuperCup career courtesy of a fantastic double victory last time out at Brands Hatch, with Gus Burton (Century Motorsport) and Will Burns (Rob Boston Racing) hot on his heels.
Hibbert will be determined to stay out front this weekend and he heads back to Cheshire with a fantastic record of three victories in his last four races at Oulton Park. Burns is fond of the circuit too though, with four consecutive podium finishes in the championship.
Ginetta Junior graduate Burton has made a sensational start to his maiden season though and joins Hibbert in holding a 100% podium record across the opening six races. In fact, the top three have shared 17 out of 18 overall podium finishes to date.
An intriguing sub-plot this weekend is between the leading teams Rob Boston Racing and Century Motorsport. They are in a race to be the first team to record 100 overall top three finishes in the GT4 SuperCup, and both head to Oulton Park with a tally of 98 so far.
A four-time fourth place finisher, Adam Smalley (Elite Motorsport) finally grabbed his first piece of silverware with a brilliant maiden victory in the last race at Brands Hatch. In the process he became only the second driver ever to win a race in Ginetta Juniors, GT5 Challenge and GT4 SuperCup.
A pack of drivers are aiming to break onto the podium this weekend, including two impressive newcomers to the series. Jamie Falvey (Motion Capital Racing) has recorded five top six results in his first six races, while Joe Marshall-Birks (Rob Boston Racing) has a couple to his name.
2018 champion Charlie Ladell (Rob Boston Racing) is one to watch after making a late return to the grid at Brands Hatch. His team-mate Fin Green was a podium-finisher in 2019, while Reece Somerfield (Privateer) and James Blake-Baldwin (AK Motorsport) are always a threat.
Some of the most exciting racing so far this year has been in the Pro Am class. Colin White (CWS Motorsport) and Chris Salkeld (Assetto Motorsport) have enjoyed a close duel with three and two class wins respectively, while Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) took a maiden victory last time out.
This could be a landmark weekend for Ginetta stalwart White, who is on course to record his 100th class podium finish in the GT4 SuperCup. Since the series’ inception in 2011, he has made no less than 99 visits to the podium; 4 in Pro, 5 in Pro Am, 90 in Am.
The Am battle meanwhile has been just as hotly contested. Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) has the points lead with three wins so far, while Stewart Lines (Maximum Motorsport) is a double winner. Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport) and Lee Goldsmith (Assetto Motorsport) have also featured on the podium.
