Ginetta will launch a dedicated class for the Ginetta G56 GTP8 in France this weekend, further strengthening its presence within the Championnat de France FFSA GT paddock and creating a clear progression route for drivers and teams competing in the French market.
The introduction of the GTP8 class mirrors the structure already established by Ginetta in the UK, where G56 GTA and GTP8 cars race together while competing in separate categories. It also follows the direction being taken in the UK and the USA, where the GTP8 has been positioned as a dedicated Ginetta class within the SRO racing environment.
Drivers can now begin their Ginetta journey in the G56 GTA, gaining experience in an accessible and controlled platform, before progressing into the more powerful G56 GTP8, learning important GT ABS and Traction Control systems, whilst remaining within the same Ginetta ecosystem and the prestigious FFSA GT championship environment.
Previously, drivers looking to step beyond the GTA route in France would naturally look towards GT4 competition. The introduction of the GTP8 class adds a new and highly distinctive option in a V8-powered, high performance Ginetta designed to deliver increased speed, presence and excitement while remaining part of a structured one make pathway.
The G56 GTP8 will make its French debut at Dijon-Prenois this weekend, racing as part of the Ginetta presence within the FFSA GT paddock.
Mike Simpson, Ginetta CEO, said:
“France is an important market for Ginetta and for our continued international growth. The launch of a dedicated GTP8 class gives drivers and teams a clear next step beyond the G56 GTA, while keeping them within the Ginetta family and the FFSA GT environment.
“The GTA remains one of the best ways to get started in serious GT racing. It is accessible, rewarding and engineered to develop drivers properly. The GTP8 then gives those drivers something bigger, faster and more powerful to progress into, without losing the benefits of a controlled Ginetta platform.
“This is exactly the kind of pathway Ginetta is known for. We build routes into motorsport, from first steps to high performance GT competition.”
The GTP8 class is designed to complement the existing Ginetta Cup France structure, offering teams and drivers a broader choice of machinery while strengthening Ginetta’s position as a key entry and development point within European GT racing.
The launch at Dijon-Prenois marks a further step in Ginetta’s global strategy to expand its customer racing presence across Europe and North America, using SRO aligned platforms, strong technical support and a clear driver progression model.
