Chamberlain stays with Xentek after a partial campaign in the series last year with the team. The Clacton-On-Sea based racer took a best result of 13th on two occasions and now returns to the grid following a strict winter testing programme.
Jesse Chamberlain: “I’m really happy to be back in the GT5 Challenge. Last year was pretty tough and we didn’t get to show our true pace. I’ve never been more focused and I’ve been working really hard with the coaches and the team, who I feel will give me the best opportunity to do well this year.”
Garlick will make a long-awaited debut in the series after an incident during pre-season testing last year ruled him out for the whole season. Fully recovered now, the teenage talent takes to the grid with previous experience in the Ginetta Juniors.
Conner Garlick: “After not been able to compete with the team last year due to my accident, I am more excited than ever to get back behind the wheel and go racing. We have been working hard over the winter to get me back up to speed. Thank you to Stevenson Mercedes for making this possible.”
Wilkinson meanwhile makes a welcome return to Ginetta competition this year. The Abthorpe-based racer contested Ginetta Juniors in 2018, picking up overall top five finishes and rookie class silverware, before tackling a year in American F4 single-seaters.
Jonny Wilkinson: “I’m delighted to be back in the Ginetta family, driving a GT5 with the reigning drivers and team champions Xentek Motorsport. I’ve only had a couple of days behind the wheel and I cannot wait to get back racing. A huge thank you to the team, my sponsors and partners.”
Chris Richards, Team Manager: “We are really looking forward to the new Ginetta GT5 Challenge season and hopefully we can replicate the amazing season we had in 2019. It’s great to have Conner and Jesse back with the team this year, and also Jonny joining us.”
