Qualifying on Saturday morning produced some milestone performances across the classes. Bal Sidhu (Xentek Motorsport) provided a rapid lap in the closing minutes to take the GT5 Challenge Am pole position, his first since the Thruxton season opener, with Chris White (Raceway Motorsport) second.
Nick White (MRM Racing) also produced some late heroics to score his maiden pole position in the G40 Cup Pro contingent by over seven tenths of a second, while there were no surprises in G40 Cup Am as Rupert Laslett (Raceway Motorsport) continued his 100% pole record for the year.
Sidhu converted his GT5 Am pole into the class lead at the start of race one, however a spin next time round opened the door for Chris White to assume control. He maintained his advantage through a safety car restart and led the remaining laps for the win.
Mark Steel (Toro Verde GT) took advantage of some drama for his class competitors to pick up a seasons’ best second place, with Paolo Santi (Raceway Motorsport) recovering from an early spin to third. Sean Peters (Breakell Racing) finished in a personal best fourth.
Warren (Raceway Motorsport) was the G40 Pro points leader heading into the weekend and he extended his advantage in race one, passing Nick White on the opening lap and leading the remainder. White was second, with Thomas Holland (Raceway Motorsport) in third.
Laslett was untouchable in G40 Am meanwhile, securing a lights to flag win to continue his superb run in the championship. Raceway team-mate Brenden Haffner and Andrew Willis (Privateer) were his closest competition as they started the weekend with podium finishes.
Race two began with a fantastic opening lap for Karim Sekkat (Elite Motorsport), who shot through from fourth on the GT5 Am grid to the class lead. It was short-lived though, with Chris White getting ahead on the next lap and leading the remainder to win again.
Sekkat, who had seen damage limited him to fifth in race one, came away with some silverware in second. Steel made it two a row in third, with Sidhu bouncing back from a retirement in race one to finish fourth ahead of Peters and Santi.
Warren produced a masterclass in G40 Pro, leading from start to finish en-route to a four second win over Nick White. Holland was set for third before losing time in the closing stages, which opened the door for Bren Maude (CTS Motorsport) to score a second podium of the year.
It was a familiar story in G40 Am as Laslett once again led throughout to record an eighth victory of the season. Haffner was second early on, however a spin cost him a shot at the podium, with Willis and Stephen Moore (SVG Motorsport) finishing the race on the podium.
The final race of the weekend saw Chris White end his perfect weekend in style with a dominant march to a 15 second win in GT5 Am, moving him up to four wins for the season. Sekkat finished second for a fifth podium of the season, having soaked up late pressure from Sidhu.
In G40 Pro, it was another lights-to-flag win for Warren to make seven victories in 10 races so far this season. Holland was his closest pursuer, albeit four seconds adrift in second, while third for Nick White mean both he and Warren have finished every race this season on the class podium.
Early drama in G40 Am saw pole-sitter Laslett drop to the back of the field on lap one. As he fought his way back up the order, Willis pulled clear at the front to take a second win of the season. Laslett was second, while Steve Davies (SVG Motorsport) bounced back from two DNF’s to take a maiden Ginetta podium finish.
The Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge remains with the British GT Championship for their next rounds at Snetterton in four weeks’ time (07/08 August).
