The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship begins its eagerly awaited new era this weekend at Oulton Park

The ever-popular championship which has helped jumpstart the careers of drivers such as Lando Norris, Jamie Chadwick and Tom Ingram returns for 2023. It showcases the country’s finest teenage talents to the biggest stages in motorsport. Support has shifted from the BTCC to the British GT weekend.

This year’s season will see 19 drivers aged 14-17 at round one. Further drivers will join throughout the season to race alongside British GT, visiting Oulton Park, Silverstone, Donington Park, Snetterton and Brands Hatch. The 2023 calendar will also journey to Cadwell Park as well as racing at the inaugural ‘G-Fest’ at Silverstone. The young stars will be competing in the Ginetta G40 Junior. It continues to provide the perfect platform for developing drivers to hone their race craft on track.

Elite Motorsport will be looking to continue their winning streak. They secured the teams championship last year with four of their drivers finishing in the top ten of the overall standings. McKenzie Douglass will be the driver to watch. He had an incredibly impressive rookie year in 2022 which saw him collect eight Rookie podium trophies.

Junior Winter series runner up and former Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner, Alisha Palmowski is set to showcase a successful season as she joins Elite Motorsport. Newcomers Holly Miall (Fox Motorsport) and Brea Angliss (Alastair Rushforth Motorsport) form the three female driver line up on the Ginetta Junior grid.

R Racing dominating driver line-up star Ginetta’s youngest Winter Series champion, Freddie Slater accompanied by Karting Champions Reza Seewooruthun and Edu Robinson. The five-car fleet is complete with rapid racers Luca Hopkinson and Mikey Porter as R Racing are set for a season of success.

The championship features the freshest talents including Ginetta’s youngest Junior Scholarship winner, Chase Fernandez teamed with Assetto Racing. Charlie Hart, Hugo Schwarze (Elite Motorsport) and Leo Robinson (Alastair Rushforth Motorsport) will all make their car-racing campaigns. They’re coming off the back of strong karting results to make their next step up the racing ladder.

Harry Moss and Holly Miall are under the watchful eye of GT champion Joe Osborne and Ginetta Vice-Champion, Liam McNeily who will be pushing their drivers for podiums as the year progresses for Fox Motorsport. Newcomer Felix Livesey (Xentek Motorsport) and scholarship finalist Thomas Spragg (Preptech UK) complete the Junior grid. They are competing for the rookie championship prize in the G40 Junior race car.

The Oulton track presents a fresh challenge to the young drivers. The Ginetta Juniors will race on the Oulton Park International layout for only the second time ever. We had one previous appearance back in 2014. The mixture of high-speed turns and tight-fast chicanes will provide a great challenge for the drivers. It is sure to be a three thrilling races!
