Blake Angliss finished off a perfect weekend with another Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship double win at Silverstone (04 June). Breakell Racing completed a clean sweep of all seven race victories at G Fest.

Angliss topped qualifying and won both races on the Silverstone National circuit on Saturday. He once again set the pace in the final G Fest qualifying session. He led Breakell Racing one-two-three from Harley Haughton and Ruben Hage.

Championship leader Luke Reade (Wolf Motorsport) was next up. The top four split by just four tenths of a second. In the GT5 classes, it was Nat Hodgkiss (Race Car Consultants) and Bal Sidhu (Xentek Motorsport) topping the Pro and Am times respectively.

In the opening race of the day, Angliss and Haughton converted their front-row starts into a race-long duel for the victory. Angliss had to soak up heaps of pressure as they ran nose-to-tail, securing the win in another one-two finish for Breakell Racing.

Reade emerged from an entertaining battle with Colin White (CWS 4×4) in the final podium position. Another tight duel saw Callum Davies (SVG Motorsport) edge out Carl Garnett (Breakell Racing) for fifth. Hage and Conner Garlick (Xentek Motorsport) had been fighting with them before contact spun them both round. This took Hage to seventh and Garlick out of the race.

Hodgkiss was the class of the GT5 field, fending off pressure in the early laps before breaking clear to a six second victory. The action was frenetic behind as four cars battled it out for the podium places. Luke Garlick (Xentek Motorsport) emerging from this in second.

Xentek Motorsport duo Sam Harvey and Ella Lloyd were next on the road. However, five second track limits penalties for both dropped them behind Will Rochford (TCR) in the final result. He secured the final position on the podium. Karim Sekkat (Breakell Racing), Paolo Santi (Raceway Motorsport) and Lexie Belk (Privateer).

The second race was shaping up to be a carbon copy of the opener at the front of the field. Once again Angliss and Haughton shot clear of the field. A puncture for Haughton ended his challenge for the win though, giving Angliss a comfortable run to the chequered flag.

Haughton’s issue meant an exciting battle between Hage and White was for second position. Ginetta veteran White used all his experience and skill to pull off a move and match his best result of the season so far. Reade slipped past Hage on the same lap to complete the podium.

Conner Garlick secured his best result of a tough G Fest event in fifth place ahead of Davies. Liona Theobald (SVG Motorsport) bounced back from a difficult first race of the day to finish seventh ahead of Shawn Fleming. The latter’s SF Racing team-mate Gary Wager unfortunately not finishing after taking ninth in the opener.

As has been the case throughout G Fest, the GT5 Pro class served up another entertaining race. Lloyd converted class pole into the early lead before Hodgkiss got ahead at Brooklands, with the four-time G Fest winner holding the advantage for a few laps before Luke Garlick rose to the front.

Hodgkiss got back into the lead next time round though and went on to lead Garlick past the chequered flag. However, track limits penalties for both meant Rochford was awarded his second win of the event. Hodgkiss and Garlick still completed the podium though ahead of Lloyd, Sekkat and Santi, while Sidhu won GT5 Am.
