Ravi Ramyead and Nick White are locked into one of the most fascinating Ginetta title duels in recent history as they battle it out for supremacy in the GT Academy, with their contest continuing this weekend at Snetterton (17/18 June).

Ramyead (Century Motorsport) and White (Raceway Motorsport) have been the dominant forces over the first half of the 2023 season, sharing all 14 race wins so far between them. White has a stunning 100% podium record to date, with reigning rookie class champion Ramyead having missed out on silverware only twice.

Ramyead started to stamp his authority on their title duel with a run of six consecutive wins. These included the first four races at G Fest earlier this month. White hit back in style though with a double victory on the final day at Silverstone. This means just ten points split them in the championship standings at this point.

Leading the charge to end the Ramyead / White duopoly over race victories is Mackenzie Walker (Assetto Racing). Fighting back from a disastrous opening weekend at Oulton Park, he’s stood on the podium six times since and scored a couple of second place results at G Fest.

Walker is currently just three points ahead of Ed Acres (Century Motorsport) in the battle for third in the standings. Acres picked up second place finishes at Oulton and Donington Park. He’s had an impressive start to his third year in the championship.

Thomas Shelley (Century Motorsport) is a clear podium contender this weekend having picked up a couple of trophies already. Marc Elman (SVG Motorsport) and Paul Livesey (Xentek Motorsport) will be aiming to build upon seasons’ best fourth place class finishes last time out.

With top six finishes in four of the opening five races of the season, Jon Kearney (Raceway Motorsport) will be one to watch. He returns to the grid after missing the last two rounds. Experienced Ginetta racer Phil McGarty (Alastair Rushforth Motorsport) is always one to keep an eye on.

While it’s close at the top in the headline GTA class, this year’s rookie category has been dominated by Matt Shaw. The former professional footballer has impressively notched up ten class wins, ten pole positions and 13 fastest laps so far.

Richard Just was the first driver to deny Shaw victory during the Oulton Park season opener. This is one of six podium finishes so far for him. Emma Tomlinson tasted the winners champagne at Donington Park. She’s part of an intriguing three-way Tomlinson family battle this year against her sisters Amy and Lucy.

Those two are tied second in the class standings. Amy has the upper hand in podium finishes by eight to five, though Lucy has the more consistent finishing record. Only 12 points adrift meanwhile is Charlotte Lowe, having accrued five podium results of her own.
