The championship lead has been shared out between Tom Hibbert (Triple M Motorsport), Will Burns (Rob Boston Racing) and Gus Burton (Century Motorsport) across the season so far, with Hibbert the current occupier after recording a third win of the season last time out at Thruxton.
Hibbert will be aiming to increase his points advantage at a circuit he won at last season, however it won’t be easy. Burton has been a revelation in his maiden campaign and has finished off the podium just once, while Burns is a consistent podium finisher with a wealth of experience in the series.
The in-form driver heading to North Yorkshire is a driver aiming to battle his way into title contention, Jamie Falvey (Motion Capital Racing). After scoring a breakthrough podium at Oulton Park, he continued a brilliant debut campaign with a sensational double victory at Thruxton.
Adam Smalley (Elite Motorsport) is a race-winner too, having scored a maiden victory back at Brands Hatch. The former Ginetta Junior champion has picked up further podium finishes in each of the last two weekends, and he’s finished lower than fourth only twice all season.
Reece Somerfield (Privateer) made history at Thruxton by becoming the first driver to reach 200 starts in the GT4 SuperCup, and he is always a podium threat. Targeting a top three breakthrough is quick first-year contender Joe-Marshall-Birks (Rob Boston Racing).
The hotly-contested Pro Am class is currently led by Chris Salkeld (Assetto Motorsport). The reigning Ginetta G40 Cup champion has a 100% podium record so far this year, however his advantage is only nine points from Colin White (CWS Motorsport).
White, who is on course to follow Somerfield and make his 200th GT4 SuperCup start this weekend, has more class wins than anyone else with five, while the in-form driver in the class is Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport), having scored a hat-trick of wins at Thruxton.
In the Am class, Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport) is on a sensational run of five victories in a row. He faces stiff competition to continue that streak from points leader Stewart Lines (Triple M Motorsport), who’s finished on the podium in 10 of 11 races.
Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) is always a threat having recorded three wins in the opening four races of the season. Peter Mangion (Elite Motorsport) was a race-winner on his debut outing, while Lee Goldsmith (Assetto Motorsport) is a multiple podium-finisher.
