Preview: 2026 Ginetta GT Championship – Oulton Park

If the thrilling, action-packed season opener at Silverstone last month is anything to go by, the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship class of 2026 are sure to serve up three unmissable races at Oulton Park this weekend (23-25 May).

As a new era for the GT Championship began on a combined grid with the Ginetta GT Academy, an exciting mix of returning drivers and championship debutants served up some high-octane action behind the wheel of their identical, V8-powered Ginetta G56 GTP8’s.

After winning the final race of 2025, Harry Gamble (Elite Motorsport) picked up where he left off with victory in a dramatic opening race at Silverstone. The reigning PRO AM champion went on to complete a double podium result to position himself as the early championship leader.

William Antrobus felt the highs and lows of motorsport across a hugely impressive Ginetta debut. After seeing a potential victory slip from his grasp on the last lap of the opener, he bounced back in style with a supreme lights-to-flag win in race two. He switches to Elite Motorsport for this weekend onwards.

It was a similar Silverstone story for Felix Livesey. The Ginetta Junior graduate was leading the opening race before an issue hit, but he went on to show his potential again in race two as he followed home Antrobus to complete a memorable one-two finish for Orion SPR on the day.

Cameron Pratt-Thompson (SVG Motorsport) will be one to watch this weekend. After starring at Silverstone with a double pole position, a second-place finish and a couple of fastest laps, the sophomore driver will now have a maiden race victory firmly in his sights.

Aiming to bounce back from a tough season opener and show his podium credentials will be Louis Darling (Orion SPR). Luck was against the GT Academy graduate on his debut, but he showed his speed with a top six qualifying performance and also got some good results at Oulton last year.

In the championship’s AM class, Alex Duncan (Xentek Motorsport) and James Nicholas (E3 Sport) shared the opening wins of the season. Duncan’s success came in a brilliant third place overall, his best-ever result in the GT Championship to start his second campaign.

Reigning GT Academy champion Nicholas marked his debut with a double AM podium and he heads to Oulton with strong pedigree, having previously won here three times in the GT Academy. His 2025 title rival, E3 Sport team-mate and fellow Oulton race-winner Jamie Caudle also debuted with two class podiums.

The AM category features another GT Academy graduate in Lucie Hodgson (Orion SPR), who has kicked off her third consecutive season of Ginetta racing. Elliot Foster (MDD Motorsport) meanwhile made his car-racing debut at Silverstone, picking up a best overall result of sixth.
