Preview: 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship – Croft

The two teenage talents kicked off the season with a thrilling duel across the season opener at Donington Park, and they’ve remained in the thick of the action at the front of the field ever since – both impressively finishing every race so far inside the top five.

Reynolds (Assetto Motorsport) has three race wins to his name, adding a Brands Hatch success to a Donington double, however Rowledge (R Racing) moved above him to the summit of the points standings after scoring his second win of the year last time out at Thruxton.

An impressive start to the season for Elite Motorsport sees them fill four of the next five positions in the standings. Amongst that group is rookie contenders Will Macintyre and Kanato Le, who have produced superb performances so far and picked up an overall win each at Donington Park.

Joe Warhurst will be determined to bounce back from a difficult Thruxton weekend and add to his three podium finishes for the season, while Aqil Alibhai is on a great run of three in a row. Also in the Elite ranks is Mckenzie Douglass, who has picked up a couple of rookie class podiums.

Ian Aguilera will be full of confidence after securing a memorable maiden victory at Thruxton. He’s part of a talented entry from R Racing, which also includes rookies Sonny Smith and Luke Watts, who topped qualifying at Donington and Brands Hatch respectively.

2021 championship runner-up Liam McNeilly (Fox Motorsport) is chasing a first podium finish of the season as he aims to kick-start his title challenge, while the close-fought top ten battles have also featured his team-mates Maurice Henry and Jacob Hodgkiss.

Preptech UK have also been in the mix in the top half of the grid, with Zac Meakin recording a breakthrough top six result at Thruxton, while Ginetta Junior scholarship winner Alisha Palmowski has picked up rookie class silverware.

Adam Brown (Ultimate Speed Racing) has impressed with a pair of top ten finishes to date, while Luca Hopkinson (R Racing) and Assetto Motorsport duo James Wyres and Ella Lloyd will be keen to break into the top ten for the first time this weekend.

Akshay Bohra (R Racing), Liona Theobald (Assetto Motorsport), Shravan Shanmugavel (Elite Motorsport) and Flynn McHardy (Preptech UK) have top ten aspirations too, having each scored seasons’ best finishes at Thruxton.
