A packed grid of teenage talents are ready to put on a show this weekend in the traditional season closing Ginetta Junior Winter Series.

Preview: 2021 Ginetta Junior Winter Series – Brands Hatch

A casualty of the COVID-affected 2020 race season, the Winter Series makes a welcome return this year at its regular home, Brands Hatch. The popular event will run to its usual format, with one qualifying session and two races each day.

Heading the entry list is Liam McNeilly, who enters the event as the most experienced and successful driver in the field. Running with Fox Motorsport, he will fancy his chances of challenging for the title after finishing runner-up in the main championship this year with five race wins to his name.

Two potential title contenders come from 2021 Teams’ champions R Racing. Tom Edgar returns to Ginetta competition having been a double race-winner earlier this season, while Josh Rowledge impressed across the campaign to finish as the third highest rookie in the standings.

A couple more drivers to watch at the head of the field come at Assetto Motorsport. Harri Reynolds has momentum from six rookie class podiums in the last nine races this season, while Max Dodds visited the class podium on four occasions.

Elite Motorsport have won the last three Winter Series titles. Leading their defence of the crown is two drivers who secured rookie class silverware this year, Aqil Alibhai and Joe Warhurst, plus the ever-improving Jack Sherwood.

Also returning from the main championship this year will be Assetto Motorsport’s Max Hall, Ian Aguilera and Sonny Smith with 2021 teams’ champions R Racing, plus 2021 Ginetta Junior scholar Maurice Henry and Jacob Hodgkiss at Fox Motorsport.

Six drivers will be making their Ginetta Junior race debut this weekend. Three of those finished in the final ten of the Scholarship last weekend at Blyton Park; James Wyres (Assetto Motorsport) and Elite Motorsport duo William Macintyre and Mckenzie Douglass.

They’ll be joined on the grid by Luca Hopkinson (R Racing), Liona Theobald (Assetto Motorsport) and Oliver Cottam (Breakell Racing).
