Preview: 2021 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Oulton Park

Adam Smalley and Tom Hibbert are split by just five points at the top of the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup standings heading into the third meeting of the season at Oulton Park this weekend.

Preview: 2021 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup – Oulton Park

Smalley (Elite Motorsport) heads to Cheshire as the championship leader following a great start to the season. The former Ginetta Junior champion scored two lights-to-flag wins in the Snetterton season opener, before adding another to his tally last time out at Brands Hatch.

Hot on his heels in the points is Tom Hibbert (Rob Boston Racing), thanks in part to a first win of 2021 at Brands Hatch. The experienced racer has enjoyed great success at Oulton Park in the past, with a pair of wins there in 2017 and a further victory two years later.

Behind them, the chasing pack include two first-time GT4 SuperCup race-winners this season. Ginetta Junior graduate Josh Rattican (Elite Motorsport) won on his debut weekend at Snetterton, while Carlito Miracco (Preptech UK) scored an emotional first victory at Brands Hatch.

Determined to score a maiden win in the near future is Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport), who has taken three podium finishes so far to lie third in the points. Steve Roberts (Rob Boston Racing) is another potential win contender following a breakthrough podium at Brands Hatch.

Similarly, James Blake-Baldwin (AK Motorsport) also highlighted himself as one to watch at the front last time out with an incredible drive from 14th to second for his maiden podium. Reece Somerfield (Breakell Racing) and Joe Marshall (Team HARD) have also been in the mix for silverware.

The competitive Pro entry features more talented racers with huge potential in the series; Luke Reade (Rob Boston Racing), Seb Melrose (Team HARD) and Century Motorsport trio Blake Angliss, Henry Dawes and Andy Spencer.

In the Pro Am class, reigning champion Colin White (CWS Motorsport) has established himself at the front of the pack. The Ginetta stalwart has won five races so far, including a Brands Hatch hat-trick, and has a great track record at Oulton Park with at least one win there in each of the last six seasons.

Carl Garnett (AK Motorsport) is the only driver on the grid to stand on every podium so far this season, having finished second in Pro Am in all six races. He’s eager to return to the top step this weekend, at a circuit he won twice at last year to kick off a run of eight wins in a row.

Reigning Am class champion Stewart Lines (Rob Boston Racing) made his first outing of the season at Brands Hatch and scored a pair of podium finishes. It was a good weekend for Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants) too as he took home his first piece of Ginetta silverware – a feat Garry Townsend (AK Motorsport) is close to achieving having finished fourth on three occasions so far.

Dan Morris (Simon Green Motorsport) was a class race-winner in the season opener at Snetterton and returns to the grid after missing the last outing, while 2020 Am front-runner Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) makes a welcome first appearance of the season.
