Kellett (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport) produced a blistering qualifying pace in the Norfolk heatwave on Saturday morning, continuing his 100% pole position success rate as he lapped three tenths of a second quicker than Aston Millar (DTO Motorsport).
Tom Emson (Elite Motorsport) was third ahead of the quickest G56 AM runner Darren Leung (Assetto Motorsport). In the G55 classes meanwhile, Luke Reade (Wolf Motorsport) and Daniel Morris (Simon Green Motorsport) secured their first poles of the season in Pro and Am respectively.
Kellett converted his pole position into a lights-to-flag victory in the opening encounter that afternoon, though he didn’t have it all his own way as Millar put him under pressure in the early stages. Emson tailed them throughout to complete the headline G56 Pro podium.
Leung dominated the G56 Am category, comfortably leading throughout for the class victory. Wes Pearce (Breakell Racing) and Colin White (CWS 4×4) completed the top six overall and the Am podium, finishing ahead of Pro runner Henry Dawes (Century Motorsport).
Reade was out front in G55 Pro for a long time before a late move from Blake Angliss (Rosland Gold Racing by Century Motorsport) resulted in contact between the two. Angliss went on to win the class on the road, however he was disqualified post-race for his part in their incident.
With Reade’s racing ending soon after, it was Josh Poulain (Motus One) who therefore picked up his first Pro class victory ahead of Conner Garlick (Xentek Motorsport) and James Taylor (Team HARD), with Nick Halstead (Fox Motorsport) just missing out on the podium.
Morris saw his race come to an end on lap two meanwhile, opening the door for James Townsend to take his first G55 Am win of the season at the head of a Fox Motorsport one-two with Ian Duggan. Luke Warr (Race Car Consultants) completed the class podium.
Race two on Sunday morning saw Kellett go untroubled as he stormed to another race victory. A rocket launch in his Ginetta G56 GT4 gave him the immediate breathing room he needed at the front, eventually pulling away to a four second winning margin over Millar.
Leung got up to third overall off the line and went on to produce a great defensive drive from Emson and Dawes, until a wide moment on the final lap dropped him behind the two Pro’s. Leung still came away with the G56 Am win again though from Pearce and White.
A brilliant opening lap from Taylor saw him rise from third in G55 Pro to the class lead, which he held to the finish for a first win of the season. Angliss put in a sublime drive from the back of the grid, battling his way through to second in class.
An all-nighter from the Wolf Motorsport team got him on track for the race and he rewarded their efforts with a podium after a late move on Poulain. In G55 Am, Morris superbly went from the last in class on the grid to the victory ahead of Duggan and Townsend, who swapped places on the last tour.
The reverse grid draw for the final race placed Leung on pole position, with Kellett back in fifth as he aimed to complete his hat-trick. Live on ITV4, Emson produced a superb opening lap from third on the grid, passing Dawes into the first corner before diving past Leung into the last.
As he broke clear at the front, Kellett was on the move behind him. Picking off Leung on lap two and Millar a lap later, he then set off in pursuit of Emson, who was 4.5 seconds up the road. While he was able to halve the deficit, he was unable to stop Emson enjoying his first win of the season.
Millar looked on course for third position before he had to pull off the circuit late on, which meant Leung was classified third overall as he completed a perfect hat-trick in G56 Am. Class rivals Pearce and White followed him home, with Dawes completing the top six and the G56 Pro podium.
The best action of the race came in the G55 Pro class. Taylor led the first half of the race, but Angliss started piling on the pressure and the lead eventually changed hands at the Wilson hairpin. As Angliss got his third win of the season – completing a triple podium in the race for Century Motorsport – Taylor dropped back as Reade and Garlick finished on the podium.
An exciting finish in the midfield saw three cars running side-by-side across the finish line, with G56 Pro contender Mike Brown (Ultimate Speed Racing) edging past the G55 duo of Taylor and Poulain – just two tenths of a second separating them at the flag.
In G55 Am meanwhile, Duggan got ahead of Morris at mid-distance and went on to take the win, with Morris and Warr joining him on the podium. That result meant both G55 classes had three different winners from the three races over the weekend.
