Steed embarked on his first year of senior motorsport competition in the GT5 Challenge last season. After missing the opening two rounds due to an unfortunate arm injury, he immediately established himself as a top ten regular in the ultra-competitive championship.
The 17 year old from Hertfordshire ended his campaign with a superb breakthrough podium finish in the season finale at Donington Park, and he is now targeting more silverware in 2020 as he returns to the grid with the support of long-term partners CIDT and Support Air.
Josh Steed: “After missing out on the first two rounds last year, I spent the rest of the season focusing on learning as much as I could and getting my first podium was a fantastic way to cap off the year. Now that we know what it takes to be at the front, we’re hoping for a very successful 2020.
“Me and the team have been doing a lot behind the scenes throughout the winter to make sure I have the best possible chance of success this year. It’s been constant hustle and hard work for all of us and I’m looking forward to the lights going out at the first race of the season.”
Packed grids and close racing makes the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge a popular entry-level championship for many aspiring GT racers. In 2020, the series will compete across both British GT and British Touring Car Championship weekends, with three outings on each support bill.
