GRDC Trio Move Up To G40 Cup With Raceway Motorsport

2020 GRDC Rookie champion Marc Warren is amongst three graduates from the series stepping up to the Ginetta G40 Cup this season with Raceway Motorsport.

Following an impressive first season in the G40 Cup last year, Raceway Motorsport are returning with a multi-car line-up for the upcoming campaign. Their first group of drivers to be confirmed are Warren and two of his main competitors from 2020, Rupert Laslett and Thomas Holland.

Warren enjoyed a sensational run to the GRDC Rookie crown last year. The pace-setter from the off, the Surrey-based driver won the opening ten races in a row and went on to end his title-winning campaign with a 100% podium record across the 15 races.

Marc Warren: “GRDC was the perfect place to learn some proper race craft and car control, and now for 2021 I want to keep learning and have fun again. I was lucky enough to take some wins in 2020 and I would love to reach the top step again. I love the sheer buzz of competition, it’s addictive.”

The first driver to beat Warren to a class victory was his new team-mate, Laslett. The Kent racer was the most consistent challenger to top spot throughout the season and victory in Round 11 at Donington Park was part of an impressive haul of ten podiums for the year.

Rupert Laslett: “I feel the G40 Cup is an ideal environment to continue to develop as a race driver, to get the skills necessary to progress onto more powerful and advanced formulas. Competing in racing is realising a long held ambition for me and I am going to enjoy and savour every moment.”

Thomas Holland was the youngest driver on the GRDC grid last season and he made his mark as a regular fixture in the front-running pack. The 18 year old student finished on the podium seven times and was the only driver other than Warren to net a pole position.

Thomas Holland: “After consistently finishing on the podium by the end of the GRDC season, as well as the unbeatable thrill you get from racing around a circuit, I decided to keep at it this year. My main goal for 2021 is to appear on the podium again, while a first win would be amazing.”

Luca Hirst, Team Principal: “I am delighted to welcome our three new Ginetta G40 Cup drivers to Raceway Motorsport. They all showed tremendous pace in last year’s GRDC championship, including many podium finishes in their debut racing season. I feel we have the team/driver partnership to battle for the championship in 2021!”

The Ginetta G40 Cup is an ideal platform for drivers who have recently discarded their ‘novice’ plates to learn the ropes in a packed grid full of drivers of similar ability and experience. Popular with drivers moving up the Ginetta ladder, the series shares a grid with the GT5 Challenge.
