Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Welcomes Ginetta G56 For 2022

Ginetta will launch a new era for the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup next season, with the introduction of the Ginetta G56 to the championship.

Ginetta GT4 SuperCup Welcomes Ginetta G56 For 2022

Following in the footsteps of the incredibly successful Ginetta G55 GT4, which has served the championship since its launch in 2011, the G56’s will run to the exact same specification as the car competing in the GT4 class of the British GT Championship this season.

Introduced earlier this year following a successful on-track development period, the V8 powered Ginetta G56 has hit the ground running and proven to be a formidable opponent for the leading GT4 manufacturers across the campaign.

With great progress being made with the car through this season and further development planned for the coming winter, the G56 will provide an exciting package for GT4 SuperCup competitors next year, with the promise of the fastest one-make Ginetta racing to date.

The GT4 SuperCup will continue its successful Pro and Am class format for 2022, which will give drivers of all experience levels the opportunity to race the G56. There will also be a third category for entrants wishing to compete in the existing G55 GT4 model.

Preceded by the Ginetta G50 Cup, the GT4 SuperCup was launched in 2011 and has been a popular part of the BTCC support paddock ever since. Over 250 races have been contested, with leading drivers going on to compete at the top of prototype, GT and touring car racing.

Lawrence Tomlinson, Ginetta Chairman: “Following the introduction of the G56 model to the British GT Championship and Ginetta GT Academy this season, it was a natural progression for the new car to be incorporated into the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

“The G56 has already proven itself to be a leading contender in GT competition and it will be great asset to the GT4 SuperCup. It’s an exciting new chapter for the championship, and further cements its status as an ideal stepping stone for aspiring career GT and prototype drivers.

“Drivers can learn the ropes in the GT4 SuperCup before progressing into GT racing in the exact same car, while teams have the opportunity to run a G56 in the GT4 SuperCup and other championships without the need for changing the car spec.”

There are a couple of other confirmed changes ahead of the 2022 season. Firstly, Ginetta will be putting on a wider range of exclusive test days, alongside the W2R Trackday offerings. This will allow drivers better opportunities to test before events, and these will form the basis of a testing ban to help reduce costs. Hospitality will be available at all of these days to enhance the experience.

For 2022, only Ginetta franchised teams will be able to run cars across the ladder of one-make championships, with a limit of five cars per series. This will allow Ginetta to better monitor the standard of teams running in the championship, and provide more security going forwards for teams that commit to the manufacturer.

Ginetta have plans for a number of taster days in the coming months, in which prospective teams and drivers can try out a Ginetta G56 on track and find out more about the car and the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

Any interested parties for the taster days and the GT4 SuperCup, or prospective teams who would like more information on becoming Ginetta franchised, can contact Ginetta’s Motorsport Manager Ashley Gallagher at ashley.gallagher@ginetta.com or 0113 385 4144.
