Brea Angliss to make Ginetta Junior Championship debut season with Alastair Rushforth Motorsport

Brea Angliss is confirmed as the third female driver to compete in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship this year. She is teamed with Alastair Rushforth Motorsport. Contesting for the Rookie title, she will join the Championship grid for the first time at Oulton Park in April.

Ahead of the 2023 race season, the 14-year-old driver made a promising Ginetta debut with Alastair Rushforth, competing mid field in the Junior Winter Series last November. Despite no previous car racing experience, Brea excelled the Team Principals expectations, finishing 12th on two occasions. Her ‘dedication and determination to improve her good stead’ saw Brea battling against experienced drivers on the grid.

With a track record of success, she competed in the 2022 British Indoor Championship grand finale with a triumphant result, finishing eighth overall. The championship saw thousands of entrants compete in a series of local and regional competitions before being selected to compete in the final.

Transferring her race craft experience from Kart track to racetrack, Brea will be coached and supported by sibling and former GT4 SuperCup runner up, Blake Angliss. In the run up to the race season, the siblings have been training over the winter season. They’ve done extensive fitness training and tracing simulator sessions in preparation to contest for the Rookie title.

Words from Brea Angliss

“I’m delighted to be competing in the Ginetta Junior Championship this season. The Winter Series was a good introduction to car-racing for me. I gained valuable experience on all aspects of race weekends, on and off track.

“The Juniors is extremely competitive and a great learning platform
. It will be the perfect stepping stone for me to where I would like to get to in the future. I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting year running with Alastair Rushforth Motorsport as they return to the series.

“I’m not heading into the season with specific targets in terms of results and championship finishes. My focus is on maximising every single session on track to develop as a driver and improve my skills and speed each weekend. I can’t wait to get started.”

Oxfordshire based team; Alastair Rushforth Motorsport announce Brea as their first driver line up release. After joining the team for the Winter series, Brea will continue with the team. With over 30 years of experience in motorsport, the team are thrilled to support the young racer in her early racing career.

Alastair Rushforth Motorsport, Team Principal

“I first met Brea during last year’s Junior Scholarship at Blyton Park. A chance post on Facebook looking to get a car out for the Winter Series led to a conversation with her father and we managed to agree a deal.

“Brea arrived at the Winter Series having never been in a car anywhere other than Blyton. So, our combined goals were simple; enjoy it, what will be, will be. She ended up exceeding all expectations. By Sunday, she was battling with the midfield. From there, I made it very clear I wanted her to race for us in 2023. I’m delighted it’s come together.”
