{"id":8367,"date":"2026-10-29T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/?p=8367"},"modified":"2026-10-29T15:13:20","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T15:13:20","slug":"2026-champion-sebastien-leusch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/us\/news\/2026-champion-sebastien-leusch\/","title":{"rendered":"2026 Champion: Sebastien Leusch"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sebastien Leusch became the final champion of the 2026 Ginetta UK Championship season last weekend at Snetterton (24-25 October), bringing an impressive first year in car-racing to a close with title glory in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series powered by Sunoco Race Fuels.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Returning to the scene of his maiden Ginetta Junior podium finishes back in August, Leusch used all of that experience to his benefit as he produced an impressively fast and consistent performance with R Racing across the four-race Winter Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hitting the ground running with his first race victory in the opener, he remained a permanent presence in the top three from then on. Third place in race two on Saturday meant he sat level on points with Finlay Lines at the top of the standings overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Second position in Sunday\u2019s opener meant the destination of the title was in his hands heading into the closer, though any slip up could be pounced on by Lines, Jacob Ashcroft or Louis Radcliffe. There was no trouble for Leusch though, with a composed drive to second again sealing the crown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI\u2019m absolutely over the moon, it really couldn\u2019t have gone any better this weekend,\u201d<\/em> said Leusch <em>\u201cIt feels really special, to win a championship in Ginetta Junior is a dream come true. It\u2019s been nice to show the progress I\u2019ve made over the year and to convert all that hard work into this result to end 2026 is amazing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt was incredibly competitive out there, Louis [Radcliffe] and the Elite boys pushed me the whole way and kept me on my toes. There were some exciting battles and I had great fun out on track all weekend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"933\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Ginetta-Report-1-1400x933.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Ginetta-Report-1-1400x933.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Ginetta-Report-1-800x533.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Ginetta-Report-1-2048x1366.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.ginetta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Ginetta-Report-1-550x367.jpg 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leusch becomes R Racing\u2019s fourth Winter Series champion in the last five editions of the end-of-season championship. It was a weekend to remember for the local team, with three wins from four races and a one-two championship finish for Leusch and his rookie team-mate Radcliffe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI can\u2019t thank everyone at R Racing enough for what they\u2019ve done for me this weekend, but also throughout the season,\u201d<\/em> he enthused. <em>\u201cThey\u2019ve gone an incredible job and I\u2019m delighted we could bring home the championship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt was good fun battling with Louis, he kept it really clean and respectful. He was brilliant all weekend and it was great that we could finish one-two for the team.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seven Winter Series champions have gone on to win the overall Ginetta Junior championship over the years, the most recent of whom was Freddie Slater three years ago. Leusch says trying to add his name to that list is certainly an appealing proposition for 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cIt\u2019s too early to say for certain, but ideally I\u2019ll be back having a go at this again and go for the overall championship,\u201d<\/em> he concluded. <em>\u201cHaving this feeling, it makes me hungry for more success.
