William Antrobus and Jamie Caudle have been crowned champions in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship after both bringing the 2026 season to a close with class win doubles at Brands Hatch (26-27 September).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Antrobus emerged from an intense three-way showdown with Harry Gamble and Cameron Pratt Thompson with the PRO title in his first season of car-racing, while GT Academy graduate Caudle sealed his maiden Ginetta title in the AM category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifying<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Antrobus (Elite Motorsport) got his title quest off to the perfect start in qualifying, grabbing his sixth consecutive pole position by 0.142 seconds from team-mate Gamble. Pratt Thompson (SVG Motorsport) had to settle for fifth overall on the grid meanwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completing the overall top three was Caudle (E3 Sport), a crucial result in his pursuit of the AM crown. The returning James Nicholas (E3 Sport) was 0.086s behind, on a circuit he won twice at in the GT Academy last year, while Elliot Foster (MDD Motorsport) rounded out the AM class top three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race One<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The opening race of the weekend got underway with a bold move around the outside at Paddock Hill Bend securing Gamble the lead from pole-sitter Antrobus. His advantage proved to be short-lived however, as a trip across the gravel at Sheene Curve dropped him to fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caudle slotted into second behind new leader Antrobus, as a fast-starting Louis Darling (Orion SPR) moved into third place having made quick progress from sixth on the grid past Pratt Thompson, Nicholas and then Gamble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darling soon suffered an issue on his car though, forcing him to ultimately pull off circuit into retirement. This brought out the safety car, leading to a three-lap shootout to the finish. Antrobus controlled the restart to secure his tenth victory of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the process, he became the third driver ever to reach double digits in a single GT Championship season. The victory was also enough to ensure Elite Motorsport wrapped up their second consecutive Teams\u2019 title in the GT Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caudle came home in second overall, giving him enough points to secure the AM title with a race to spare. Gamble finished third overall ahead of Nicholas, with Pratt Thompson completing the PRO class top three in fifth overall ahead of Vladislav Tomenchuk (Elite Motorsport) and AM podium finisher Foster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race Two<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Antrobus and Caudle lined up on the front row of the grid for race two, which was set by the drivers\u2019 second fastest times in qualifying. The top two ran side-by-side through the opening two corners, before Antrobus settled into the lead exiting Druids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were early changes behind, as Gamble grabbed second off the start from Nicholas, who then lost another position to Pratt Thompson too. Gamble continued his progress on lap two, passing Caudle into Surtees for second overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gamble couldn\u2019t do much to challenge Antrobus out front however, with the leader knowing that victory would secure him the title with a race to spare. A dominant lights-to-flag win did exactly that, as he headed an Elite Motorsport one-two from Gamble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caudle added another AM class victory to his collection in third overall, with Darling making good progress from seventh on the grid to the final spot on the PRO podium in fourth. Pratt Thompson\u2019s title chances came to an end with a fifth-place finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a trip over the Surtees gravel on lap one put him back to eighth, Tomenchuk recovered well to finish sixth. Nicholas was seventh over the line, however a track limits penalty cost him second in the AM class to Foster, as Lucie Hodgson (Orion SPR) completed the finishers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race Three<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With Antrobus electing to sit out the final race of the season, it was Gamble alone on the front row of the grid. A great launch from Caudle meant he took the lead into Druids for the first time, while a quick-starting Pratt Thompson grabbed third from Darling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The race was halted later in the lap however as Nicholas went off into the barriers at Sheene. After a red flag stoppage to allow for the recovery of his car, the race restarted to a shorter 15-minute duration with the cars lining up in the original grid order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gamble nailed the start second time around to lead into Paddock, with Caudle slipping back to third instead behind Darling. That set up an exciting duel for victory between Gamble and Darling, with the latter being determined to try and score his maiden win in the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gamble was able to keep him at bay though to secure his fifth win of the campaign and with it second in the final championship standings, with Darling finishing second on the road. Post-race, he was disqualified from the result though due to his part in the lap one incident with Nicholas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomenchuk had picked off Caudle at Surtees on the opening lap for third, with Pratt Thompson slotting into fourth a couple of laps later. As those two battled though, they both ran wide into Surtees late on, opening the door for Caudle to pass both at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, Caudle hit the barriers at the same corner on the last lap and ended his race, with Tomenchuk coming through to his second podium since joining the series. Pratt Thompson ended up rounding out the podium after Darling\u2019s penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foster signed off his debut car-racing campaign with a great first AM class victory of the season. Antrobus meanwhile ended the weekend with the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award for posting the quickest racing lap of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
