Harrison Mackie, Riley Cranham and Lewis Goff took a victory each as the 2026 Ginetta Junior Championship powered by Sunoco Race Fuels season came to a close at Brands Hatch (26-27 September).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qualifying<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As he celebrated his 15th<\/sup> birthday, Jesse Phillips (R Racing) stormed to the top of the timesheets in qualifying to secure his first pole position in the championship. In the process, he became the seventh different driver to take a pole across an incredibly competitive season of qualifying in the Juniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips lapped almost two tenths of a second quicker than Mackie (Elite Motorsport), with three-time pole sitter Melvin Kalousdian (R Racing) close behind. Bailey Doughty (MK Racing) starred in a seasons\u2019 best fourth overall, while debutant Finlay Lines (Elite Motorsport) impressed in seventh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race One<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The opening race of the weekend got underway with the top three holding position at the front, as the action began immediately over fourth place. Newly-crowned champion Goff (R Racing), running the #1 for the final weekend, initially challenged into Paddock Hill Bend but Doughty fended him off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cranham (R Racing) was the next to make a move exiting Clark Curve and grabbed the spot. He ran slightly wide at the next corner Paddock Hill Bend though, which opened the door for Goff to pick up fourth ahead of Cranham and Doughty heading into a safety car period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When action resumed, Mackie made his move for the lead into Surtees. Phillips would lose further ground next time around, slipping back to fourth behind Kalousdian and Goff, who themselves swapped positions at the end of the lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mackie was able to just edge away from the chasing pack over the next few laps, leaving behind a battle for second that intensified as the race progressed. On the penultimate lap, Kalousdian dived down the inside of Goff into Westfield and shuffled him back to fifth in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the final lap, a defensive move from Cranham pushed Phillips onto the grass, before Cranham himself ended up in the gravel two corners later after going wheel-to-wheel with Goff. As Mackie ended up with a near five-second victory, Kalousdian and Goff completed the podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harry Bartle (Pace Performance) finished fourth, as Phillips recovered from his grassy moment in fifth. Benefitting from all of the midfield action through the race to make tremendous progress up the order was Jacob Ashcroft (Elite Motorsport), climbing from 18th<\/sup> on the grid to a top six finish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Max Murray (R Racing) was another to fight his way forward, going from 15th<\/sup> at the start to seventh at the flag. He was handed a five-second penalty post-race however for a safety car infringement, dropping him back to 15th<\/sup> in the final result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sebastien Leusch (R Racing) therefore finished up seventh ahead of Noah Young (Performance One). Devon Hagelen (Elite Motorsport) had been battling in the top ten with them, before an issue on the penultimate lap dropped him to the back of the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis Radcliffe (R Racing) fought back from 15th<\/sup> at one stage to ninth. Doughty ended up rounding out the top ten ahead of Dominic Darling (Performance One), while Lines recovered well to 12th<\/sup> after a trip across the Clearways gravel dropped him out of the top ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry Cameron (Elite Motorsport) and Ethan Brass (MK Racing) were next up ahead of Murray and Josh Watts (Performance One), the latter having finished 12th<\/sup> on the road before losing four positions due to a five-second penalty for track limits infringements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race Two<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The second race of the weekend proved to be one of the most entertaining of the 2026 season. Phillips led away from pole position as Kalousdian and Doughty battled it out for second behind, with an incident between the two opening the door for Goff to grab second into Paddock on lap two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goff pulled off a repeat of that move two laps later on Phillips to grab the lead, doing so just before the safety car emerged after a spin into the gravel for Murray at Clearways. When action resumed, Goff led from Phillips and Doughty, while Cranham made quick progress to fourth ahead of Bartle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next time round, a rare mistake from Goff saw him run wide from the lead at Westfield. While a super save kept him out of the barriers, he dropped to sixth in the process with Phillips regaining the lead, whilst Cranham slotted into second having earlier passed Doughty at Druids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cranham moved into the lead himself on lap nine, diving down the inside of Phillips into Sheene. The advantage briefly went back to Phillips into Druids on the last lap, however Cranham fought through into Westfield and went on to secure his third win of the season from tenth on the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind him, an incredible ten car pack fought over second through the final few corners. In fact, the cars running from second to 11th<\/sup> over the finish line were separated by just 1.2 seconds, with Phillips emerging from the fight in second position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bartle and Doughty had seen themselves edged off circuit at consecutive corners on the last lap, ending their podium chances and opening the door for Mackie to charge through to third and complete a sensational drive from 18th<\/sup> on the grid. In the process, he confirmed his runner-up spot in the final standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goff came home fourth, while Kalousdian fought back well from tenth at the end of lap one to fifth at the finish. A recovering Bartle rounded out the top six ahead of Ian Danicska (Elite Motorsport), who matched his seasons\u2019 best result of seventh, with Lines a debut weekend best of eighth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doughty ended up ninth, while Young scored the final spot in the top ten by three hundredths of a second in a photo-finish with Ashcroft \u2013 the latter rising from 19th<\/sup> on the grid. Darling, Brass, Hagelen and Cameron were next up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anesu Maphumulo (RABsport Racing) scored his best result of the weekend in 16th<\/sup> ahead of Radcliffe, who was unlucky to find himself pushed off circuit twice during the race. Watts, Maxim Kharuk (Elite Motorsport) and Leusch completed the points finishers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Race Three<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With the race two result setting the grid for the final race of the season, it was Cranham lining up on pole. He converted that into the early lead, however fellow front-row starter Phillips grabbed the advantage into Hawthorns for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It got worse for Cranham on lap two, as an unfortunate spin at Paddock Hill dropped him back to 20th<\/sup> Mackie moved up to second in the process, while a double move from Goff into Westfield secured him third position from Bartle and Kalousdian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mackie dived for the lead into Druids on lap three, but Phillips fought back into Hawthorns. Goff, Bartle and Kalousdian worked their way past Mackie in consecutive corners too, dropping him from second to fifth in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goff was next to challenge for the lead and he made a move stick into Druids on lap four, while Mackie fought back to third across the lap before trading that spot back and forth with Kalousdian over the next couple of tours. Bartle got involved too, with some great racing between the three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their battling had allowed Goff and Phillips to build a four second gap at the front of the field, however that was wiped out when the safety car came out following an incident between Cranham and Danicska left the latter in the gravel trap at Sheene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The race boiled down to a one lap sprint to the chequered flag, which proved to be a relatively subdued one by Junior standards. Goff kept his pursuers at bay to score his tenth win of the season, joining an elite group of drivers to have reached double digits in a single Ginetta Junior season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phillips and Mackie ended up rounding out the podium, while Kalousdian and Bartle completed the top five on the road but were both handed track limits penalties. Ashcroft was therefore classified fourth, completing a battling drive through the field from 11th<\/sup> on the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fellow Elite racers Hagelen and Cameron made great progress too, each gaining nine positions as they completed the top six. Cranham recovered from his early incident to finish seventh ahead of Doughty, while Murray rose up the order from 21st<\/sup> on the grid to finish ninth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young signed off his Ginetta Junior career with a top ten finish ahead of Lines and Radcliffe. Kalousdian and Bartle were left to settle for 13th<\/sup> and 16th<\/sup> respectively after their penalties, split by Leusch and Brass in the final result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Freshmans Cup \u2013 a class for car-racing rookies with no previous national-level karting experience \u2013 Doughty took a hat-trick of wins and ends the season as the highest placed Freshman in the championship. Cranham picked up the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award meanwhile, after posting the quickest racing lap of the event in race one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
