While new to the Ginetta paddock, the Lancashire-based team have a wealth of experience in championships in the UK and Europe. Alongside some GT and tin-top racing, they have enjoyed great success in prototypes and were crowned champions in the Sports Prototype Cup UK last year.<\/p>\n
The team make their entry into the Juniors with two finalists from the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in December; Aqil Alibhai (14, South Africa) and Fergus Chalmers (15, Scotland), both of whom made it through to the final eight in the hotly-contested event.\n <\/p>\n
Alibhai started karting at the age of four and has been a front-runner in championships in South Africa, the UK and across Europe. Chalmers meanwhile comes with experience in junior rally driving, and he makes the move to Ginetta Juniors with the aim to become the first Scottish champion in the series.\n <\/p>\n
James Breakell, team manager: \u201cThe transition for our team into the Ginetta paddock from our routes in Sports prototype racing has been a couple of years in the making. Our strategy is to give talented young drivers a route into prototype racing using our ties and relationships with endurance and ELMS teams we have developed throughout our career in motorsport.\u00a0 <\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cFollowing our success in the Sports Prototype Cup in 2020, it was a logical step to join Ginetta as part of our continued growth as a UK based racing team. Being the new kids on the block in the Ginetta paddock we are focused on achieving a strong competitive year.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cWe are proud to have two talented young drivers driving for us this year in Aqil and Fergus and we are confident that the talent they showed at the Scholarship event will shine through when they are racing within the championship.
