Henry and de Haan emerged from a hugely talented pool of 65 young drivers as the latest winners of the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in December; the first time in the event\u2019s history that two drivers were handed the prize of a fully funded season in the championship.<\/p>\n
After discussions with a number of teams in the paddock, the two teenage talents have now selected the teams that they will race with this season. Henry (15, Birmingham) has signed with Fox Motorsport, while De Haan (14, Holland) has joined Richardson Racing.\n <\/p>\n
Maurice Henry: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to join Fox Motorsport in Ginetta Juniors. I chose Fox because I\u2019ve had a good relationship with both Paul and Liam McNeilly since we raced against each other in karting. I know that if I fit in well with a team, I\u2019ll find it easier to extract the maximum performance from myself.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMy ambition is to be a factory GT driver, so driving for a team like Fox, who have been successful at every level of motorsport they\u2019ve contested – right up to international GTs, is ideal, as is being a part of the Ginetta ladder that has given opportunities to so many talented racing drivers.\u201d<\/em>\n <\/p>\n Paul McNeilly, Fox Motorsport: \u201cI\u2019m really pleased to welcome Maurice to Fox Motorsport as we expand our Ginetta Junior programme to two cars. Maurice will benefit from Liam\u2019s greater experience in these cars and both drivers will being able to use each other to gauge their own performance and move forwards.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cMaurice did brilliantly to win the Ginetta Junior Scholarship and we were impressed with what we saw from him in our car – which was one of the cars used by Ginetta for the event. His aim is to be the rookie champion and we\u2019ll do everything we can to help him achieve this.\u201d<\/em>\n <\/p>\n Robert de Haan: “I am looking forward to being part of the Richardson Racing team. After a successful career in karting, this is a fantastic opportunity for me to take the step into car racing and I promise to give my all to repay Ginetta and the team for their support.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n “I\u2019m excited about the chance to race at famous circuits like Silverstone and Brands Hatch, and although it is my first season at this level, I\u2019m going into 2021 with one goal – and that is to take as many trophies back home to the Netherlands as I can! I can\u2019t wait for the season to start.”<\/em>\n <\/p>\n Gwyn Richardson, Richardson Racing: “Robert is an accomplished karter who is highly respected by his peers, and has displayed huge potential in the limited running he has done so far in a car. He was a worthy winner of the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, and I\u2019m thrilled that he has chosen to run with us.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that he has the ability to compete at the sharp end of the field, and I\u2019m confident that he\u2019ll be one to watch this year.
