Roberts enters Ginetta racing for the first time with a wealth of experience from a near two decade career so far. He started off in single-seaters and was crowned the 2004 North-West FF1600 champion and the scholarship class champion in the UK Formula Ford Championship the following year.<\/p>\n
After a break from competition, the Cambridgeshire-based racer returned in the BMW Compact Cup and enjoyed a brilliant four year spell in the championship. Crowned champion in 2013 with a superb tally of 12 wins from 14 races, he then added a second title in 2015.\n <\/p>\n
Most recently Roberts has been a multiple race-winner in the Mazda MX5 Supercup with Rob Boston Racing. After testing a Ginetta G55 with them last year, he\u2019s put together a deal to join the GT4 SuperCup grid with support from Glasswall and thebmwspecialist.co.uk.\n <\/p>\n
Steve Roberts: \u201cIt\u2019s been 15 years or so since I was last on the national motorsport stage competing in UK Formula Ford, and I\u2019m super-excited to be back and competing in a championship of the Ginetta GT4 Supercup\u2019s calibre.<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cThe G55 is such an immense car to drive, and after having had a chance to test with RBR after our time together in Mazdas, I simply knew I had to try and put a budget together to compete in the championship. I\u2019m not getting any younger, in fact I\u2019ve just turned 40, so I suppose you can see it as very self-indulgent present to myself!<\/em>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI will be driving for a championship-winning team in RBR, and although I\u2019m clearly not a career driver, I still have as much will-to-win as anyone on the grid, and am super-motived for this season. I believe we can compete at the sharp end of the grid, so that\u2019s the aim. I also have the support of some great corporate partners and I hope to do them proud this season.\u201d<\/em>\n <\/p>\n The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta\u2019s flagship championship.
