Toby Trice and Angus Whiteside sealed the GTA and Rookie titles respectively with a meeting to spare last time out at Silverstone. While Trice has elected to sit out this weekend\u2019s racing, Whiteside will be on the grid aiming to end his campaign with more success.<\/p>\n
Part of the group of racing novices contesting their first ever season of competition, Whiteside has been an absolute revelation with six overall victories in the last seven races and four consecutive pole positions. He\u2019s dominated the rookie contingent too, with 9 class wins in 12 races.\n <\/p>\n
Behind him, there\u2019s a fiercely contested battle for the class runners up honours. Darren Leung holds the place courtesy of seven podium finishes across the campaign, with Edward Acres leading the chasing pack having joined Leung in scoring a top three hat-trick at Silverstone.\n <\/p>\n
Gilbert Yates is hot on Acres\u2019 heels after taking a second class victory of the season in the Silverstone opener, his sixth podium of the campaign, while fellow front-runners Tom Hartley Jnr and Danny Dwyer are also in mathematical contention for the vice-champion spot.\n <\/p>\n
In the GTA class, there\u2019s also a big battle for the runners up position. Roy Alderslade (Assetto Motorsport) is the driver to beat, with the former Ginetta G40 Cup \u2018Chairmans Cup\u2019 champion having picked up six podium finishes across the season so far.\n <\/p>\n
Wes Pearce (Elite Motorsport) is his closest competitor, having finished on the rostrum five times himself. The ex-Ginetta GT5 Challenge racer has good form at Donington Park too, having scored three podiums there including a class win during the series\u2019 previous visit in July.\n <\/p>\n
The standout performer at Silverstone last time out meanwhile was Martin Wills (Assetto Motorsport), who scored his maiden overall victory and GTA class wins across the weekend. Team-mate Julian Wantling is another who\u2019s impressed this year, scoring a podium in each of the opening three events.\n <\/p>\n
Also featuring in the GTA class top three this season has been Lee Goldsmith (Assetto Motorsport), Gary Wager (SF Racing) and Lee Frost (SVG Motorsport). Ever-presents Goldsmith and Wager got silverware at Donington Park and Snetterton respectively, while Frost returns to the grid for the first time since the season opener.\n <\/p>\n
Aiming to end their season with a first piece of silverware meanwhile will be Robin Grimwood (Assetto Motorsport), Shawn Fleming (SF Racing) and Neil Wallace (SVG Motorsport). Three drivers make their debuts this weekend too; Mike Jordan (DTO Motorsport), Mackenzie Walker (Assetto Motorsport) and rookie Jon Kearney.\n <\/p>\n
