Karting Graduate Casper Stevenson Joins Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship

12th February 2019 • Simon Paice

Casper Stevenson will enter the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship this season as a rookie contender with Richardson Racing.

After competing in the Super One Junior X30 karting series last year, Stevenson went on to make his car-racing debut in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series back in November and produced an impressive display with a pair of rookie class podium finishes.

The London-based racer has since started a testing programme with Richardson Racing ahead of the upcoming campaign, with positive runs at Donington Park and Brands Hatch filling him with confidence ahead of the season opener in April.

Casper Stevenson: “I’m really looking forward to racing in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship this season, and I am pleased to have signed a deal with the Richardson Racing team.

“Throughout last season they were ultra-competitive on track, and that was shown with a multitude of wins and podiums throughout the year. I can’t wait to get the season underway, and I hope that we can emulate the success the team had last year over the course of 2019.”

Gwyn Richardson, team principal: “I’m so pleased to have Casper on board. He impressed us from the moment he first started working in our simulator. He showed remarkable passion and dedication to analysis of data and on-board footage.

“That has translated into tremendous performance in testing and he’ll definitely strengthen an already strong line-up of drivers. I’m looking forward to seeing his pace continue into the season, where I’m sure his professionalism will translate into good results.”

The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.
