James Kell has signed with reigning Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup champions Rob Boston Racing for his debut season in the British Touring Car Championship support series in 2019.

The 21 year old from Morpeth is an exciting new addition to the grid as he embarks on only his second season of car-racing action, viewing the SuperCup as the perfect next step in his career following a front-running campaign in Mazda MX-5 competition this year.

James Kell: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the 2019 Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and to be in the Rob Boston Racing team driving the Ginetta G55. The car exceeded every one of my expectations during a recent test at Blyton Park and I knew it was the car I had to be driving this year.

“2019 will be a learning season for me, a year to understand the car and its capabilities, having not raced with slicks, aero, and a paddle-shift gearbox before. It’s going to take some time to adjust my driving, but hopefully I will adapt quickly and become more competitive as the season progresses.”

Led by a former SuperCup race-winner, Rob Boston Racing have enjoyed huge success in the SuperCup with two drivers’ titles in the last three seasons and Kell is the Lincolnshire-based team’s first confirmed signing for their title defence in 2019.

Rob Boston, team boss: “The Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is a logical progression for James and he is looking forward to the new challenge. We are really very excited to help and will enjoy watching James’ progression in 2019. Welcome onboard James, it’s going to be epic!”

The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup is Ginetta’s flagship championship, with a two-class structure for Professional and Amateur drivers. In 2019, the series will be contested over eight race weekends in support of the British Touring Car Championship, with live television coverage on ITV4.
