Ian Lacy/G3 Racing Aiming For Championship Spoils In PWC

6th August 2018 • Ruth Harrison-Davies

Our friends across the pond, Ian Lacy Racing in partnership with G3 Racing, are looking forward to a strong showing and a shot at the Pirelli World Challenge GTS Sprint-X Am championship in the upcoming race at Utah Motorsports Campus (August 10 – 12).

After three wins and numerous podiums Drew Staveley enters the final race weekend of the ten-race series as the championship leader with a sixteen-point cushion. He said;“I’m really hoping we can maintain our momentum and finish this weekend with some strong results. We achieved our first Pirelli podium at our home track last year, so if the racing goes our way I think we can hope for a strong finish and a shot at the Sprint-X Am championship. It would be extra special to do it in front of our family and friends here in Utah.”

Team Owner Ian Lacy added;“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. Our engineer, crew, and drivers have always been ready to grab the smallest advantage and I’m sure they will continue their high state of preparedness. The unknown factor at this point is the Balance of Performance, we have provided the series data from our test and they have last year’s results. We have worked closely with Ginetta to determine where we feel the car should be and we hope the resulting BOP allows us to compete on an even playing field with our fellow competitors.”

In addition to Staveley in the #12, Ian Lacy Racing will field cars for G3 principal Frank Gannett and wife Jenny. Frank currently sits 13th of 30 competitors in his #24 Ginetta in his first full season in PWC, and looks to use his home track advantage to earn more valuable points. Jenny will make her first PWC appearance at the track where she earned her 2017 NASA championship in the #10 TCA Mazda GMX-5. Finally, Steve Burns will return in his #43 Ginetta after sitting out some mid-season races due to injury.
