Ginetta Picks Up More Silverware In Dijon FFSA

16th July 2018 • Ruth Harrison-Davies

A strong showing at Dijon for the Ginetta G55 GT4s in FFSA see the British Manufacturer sitting first and third in the Pro-Am Championship, as well as second in the Am Class battle.

Leading overall are Robert Consani and Benjamin Lariche in the #8 Speed Car machine, whilst Douglas Lundberg and Pierre Courroye lie third in class. Having entered without a driving partner, Rodolphe Wallgren is second in the Am Class standings with Speed Car.

The Schatz-Lestienne Racing team enjoyed a fantastic series debut. Nicolas Schatz and Alain Gaunot swept to over victory in their Ginetta G55 GT4 car during the opening race of the weekend, having taken the race lead with just one lap left on the board.

Nicolas Schatz (Ginetta G55 / Schatz-Lestienne Racing) - 1st:  "I was not aware that I had won! I did not know that I was playing for the victory, but I saw that there was only one lap remaining to overtake Grégory. As he had been very sporty on my previous attempts, I decided to try outside and it happened. This rewards the work of my entire team, from our first race in the championship."

Alain Gaunot (Ginetta G55 / Schatz-Lestienne Racing) - 1st:  "Nicolas had advised me on the start. I was behind Consani and I decided to try outside, because everyone else was going to brake inside. It allowed me to keep my position. I found myself well placed and I was able to fight against a Ginetta before hugging Laurent Hurgon when I stopped. I already saw his BMW suffering with the tires. It was a good omen and Nicolas did the job to finish in style."

In the Am class, it was victory for the Speedcar entry of Rodolphe Wallgren:"It was a good race! I had signed a rather average time. When I left twenty-first and seventh Am, I did not think I was going back so much, but I was patient and eventually took the lead."

In the second race, the best Schatz / Gaunot could do was fourth overall. It was another podium finish in the Am Class though, CMR’s Christopher Cappello and Alexis Berthet took second in class at the flag.

Christopher Cappello (Ginetta G55 / CMR) - 2nd Am:"It was my first start in GT4. With Pierre-Alexandre Jean on my right, I let him speak his experience so that he traces me the road at the end of the straight line. Once the traffic was a little smoother, I was able to exploit the car through some excesses on the base and I am delighted with the work done by CMR this weekend!"

Alexis Berthet (Ginetta G55 / CMR) - 2nd Am:"Christopher put me in good condition, although it still takes a little time to get back into the rhythm. I lost a lot behind an Audi, but managed to find the opening just before the rain came. This podium concludes a beautiful first experience in GT4 "
