Ginetta Junior Scholarship Winner Ethan Brooks Signs With TCR

4th March 2019 • Simon Paice

2019 Ginetta Junior Scholar Ethan Brooks will race with Total Control Racing this season in his Millers Oils backed Ginetta G40.

A superb performance in the fiercely contested Ginetta Junior Scholarship event back in October saw Brooks beat 66 other aspiring drivers to one of the most sought-after prizes in UK motorsport, a fully-funded season in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship.

The 15 year old makes the transition to circuit racing with two successful years of competitive karting action under his belt, winning back-to-back British Schools Karting Championship titles and finishing third in the British Sodi Endurance Championship in 2018.

Brooks will compete this season behind the wheel of a Millers Oils branded Ginetta G40 as part of a new technical partnership with the Yorkshire company, with his car prepared by a Total Control Racing team who are former champions in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and GT5 Challenge.

Ethan Brooks: “I am really looking forward to the championship this year as it will be the biggest challenge that I have faced and a steep learning curve. The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is such a good series and I’m really looking forward to the close racing.

“I believe that TCR is the best team for me to be in due to their considerable experience and previous success in the championship. Everyone at TCR makes it such a welcoming and special place to be and I feel at home there.

“I am looking forward to sharing success with this team. My main hopes for the year will be to learn and enjoy this experience as much as possible. I believe that I can achieve rookie podiums and be a regular front runner by the end of the season.”

Lee Brookes, team manager: “We are really pleased that Ethan Brooks has decided to join us here at TCR for his first season in the Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship. We are looking forward to working with him and achieving some great results together. He’s certainly going to be one to watch!”

The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship is the UK’s longest running and most prestigious Junior series, offering the first step on the motorsport ladder for 14-17 year old racing drivers as they compete on the support bill for the British Touring Car Championship.
