Ginetta G58 Claims Victory In Silverstone 12 Hours

12th March 2018 • Ruth Harrison-Davies

The Simpson Motorsport Ginetta G58 (#4, Steve Tandy / Bob Berridge / Mike Simpson / Charlie Robertson) claimed victory in the PROTO division at the first-ever Hankook 12H Silverstone last weekend.

We’ve been busy clearing a space in our trophy cabinet at Ginetta Towers following another win for the Ginetta G58 and our very own Factory Driver, Mike Simpson.

The Ginetta action got off to something of a tumultuous start when the #4 chassis was damaged beyond repair during Thursday’s free practice session. In true Ginetta style, we dispatched a replacement chassis from HQ which arrived at Silverstone that same evening.

Hard work by the Simpson Motorsport crew meant the #4 was prepared and ready to go ahead of qualifying, with stand-in qualifier, Charlie Robertson putting the car on pole for the race. Despite a rather eventful race, Steve Tandy, Bob Berridge and Mike Simpson did enough to eventually both the P2 class and overall PROTO victory. The G57 completed 278 laps of the 5.891km Silverstone Arena Circuit en-route to victory, Bob Berridge driving the car over the line.

The European Championship continues for both GT and PROTO teams at the next race in Navarra on 20-21-22 April. Further information can be found at
