JAMIE ORTON SET FOR 2013 SUPERCUP BID WITH JHR DEVELOPMENTS

Ginetta GT Supercup racer Jamie Orton has announced plans to return to the 2013 Ginetta GT Supercup grid, after joining Ginetta stalwarts, JHR Developments.

Joining established team JHR Developments for 2013, Orton will work with the same team who pushed both Tom Ingram and Sennan Fielding to closely-fought top three finishes in the Ginetta GT Supercup and Junior Championship respectively.

Orton said; “JHR had a very quick car in 2012 and they are very passionate about the work they do in being very performance driven. I really like their enthusiasm and their ethos as a team.”

Having joined the Ginetta grid for his first full season this year, the former Caterham R300 champion saw 2012 as a steep learning curve in the G50, but having finished within the top ten and with a podium finish in his first race weekend of the season, Orton is looking to take the title this time around.

Steven Hunter, Team Principal at JHR Developments said; “With the team expanding for 2013, we were in the fortunate position to be able to find the right person to join the team and Jamie certainly fits that bill. As a front running driver with lots of potential, we are looking forward to working with him next season.”

Having opted to take advantage of Ginetta’s new-for-2013 package offers, Orton will receive a brand new Ginetta G55 Cup Car, as well as a full season’s entry and Friday testing fees, plus tyres and fuel.

Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said; “It’s great to see Jamie returning to the grid for 2013, he showed bags of potential last year, and I am looking forward to following his progress. Our new-for-2013 championship packages are already proving popular, and we are delighted a current racer has seen the strengths of the offer.”

Whilst race wins are at the top of his wish-list for 2013, Orton is keen to land his first qualifying pole position, and with the opening round at Brands Hatch set to take place at the end of March, he doesn’t have too long to wait for his chance.
