Current Ginetta Junior Winter Series Champion Harry Woodhead has signed up for another season in the Ginetta Junior Championship with the team which drove him to success over the weekend; HHC Motorsport.
Having finished sixth overall and brought home no less than five podium finishes in the main Ginetta Junior Championship, Woodhead said; “The Ginetta Junior Championship 2012 has been a great series to experience my first season of racing cars.
“I completed the second half of the season as a privateer with my dad, race instructor and a mechanic with some success; it just goes to show that it is possible to be competitive as a dad and lad team if you have the time and commitment.”
Moving to 2012 championship-winning team HHC Motorsport, the Staffordshire racer will launch a campaign for the 2013 title, adding; “Due to my dad’s business commitments and the goal of taking a real shot at the title, I decided that we need to run with a team. I believe HHC Motorsport are the team who can give me a competitive car, and the rest will be up to me!"
Team Principle of HHC Motorsport, Charlie Kemp said; “We are delighted that Harry has signed with us for 2013, he has shown real pace throughout 2012 in only his first season in cars, and the move to HHC Motorsport will give Harry the full support he needs to try and take the Championship title. To go out and win his first outright Ginetta Junior race whilst taking the Winter Series title in true style shows how well the team and Harry have gelled in only a short time.”
The announcement follows Ginetta’s unveiling of new-for-2013 race packages, where Junior racers can challenge a full season for just £24,000, inclusive of car hire, entry fees, Friday testing plus a season supply of race tyres and fuel.
Max Gregory, Ginetta Championships Manager said; “It’s great to have Harry signed up for next year at this early stage, there is a good buzz around the Ginetta Junior Championship currently and after a very promising winter series, 2013 is looking to be very strong.
"Harry and his father did a great job running their family team in the 2012 championship, and it just goes to show that this gives the perfect grounding for a full title assault next year.”
HHC Motorsport & Harry will not be resting on their laurels, both team and drivers will be working hard testing in the Winter to hit the ground running in 2013 when the Ginetta Juniors kicks off at Brands Hatch in March.
