Team LNT will line up on the final British GT grid of the 2012 season as Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Factory Driver Mike Simpson hunt down the honours in the championship closer gets at Donington Park this weekend.
Following on from a significant result in the penultimate round of the championship earlier this month, where Ginetta’s factory G55 GT3 car claimed overall fourth place from a grid of 29 cars, the works team are looking for nothing less than third place.
The homologated Ginetta G55 GT3 is proving to be one of the best packages on the market in terms of value for money and performance, most recently with a successful showing at Silverstone in the famous Britcar 24 hour race last weekend, where they qualified on pole position and brought the car home in class third.
Prior to this weekend’s racing, the organisation has imposed some balance of performance restrictions on the car, which see Team LNT hit with a ride height increase and enforced rev limit penalty.
Simpson said; The balance of performance restrictions mean we will have to work extra hard to come away with the win. Nevertheless, I am thrilled to be driving in the pinnacle of British GT racing and I am relishing the opportunity to show both the cars - and my own - pace!”
With each race allowing the Ginetta team to speed up the development of customer cars, their consistently impressive finishes in both British GT and the MSA Britcar Endurance Championship havedemonstrated the potential of the GT3 in these highly regarded British race series.
Tomlinson said; “Our outings thus far have proven the Ginetta G55 GT3 as a highly competitive car and a rival for any marque in the GT3 category. Capable of holding its own on increasingly competitive grids, the G55 GT3 will be an affordable, outright winner in many championships.”
