Freddie Lee will be making an initial appearance in the Ginetta Junior championship at Snetterton on the 11th/12th of August 2012 after withdrawing from the Junior Fiesta championship halfway through what has proved to be a successful season.
The decision was made following a productive test day with Ginetta at the Bedford Autodrome where Freddie, after an eventful first test session, demonstrated his ability to listen, learn and adapt his driving style to produce solid laps, and by end of day, some quite impressive times for his first time in the car.
Supporting Freddie in this new arena will be Hillspeed, who have a long history and a proven track record in a number of series including Ginetta. Richard Ollerenshaw, team principle of Hillspeed commented: “Freddie’s reputation precedes him and we are delighted to have this opportunity to work together.
“Obviously a Ginetta is very different from the cars Freddie has experienced to date, but he clearly has the ability to make the transition. Freddie will be joining team mates Keith Donegan and Pepe Massot and I’m confident that this line up will produce some good results for both the boys and Hillspeed”.
Freddie commented: “I’m a little sad to be leaving the Junior Fiesta championship as I have met some great people; it’s a good starter series as the cars feel familiar as they are based on a road car. However, I have to think of the bigger picture and my long term objectives and the Junior Ginetta championship provides not only a great race car to drive on track but also delivers greater exposure and sponsor appeal. I’m looking forward to working with the Hillspeed team and Richard and I’m very excited to be making this initial appearance at Snetterton, I can’t wait to get out testing next week.”
