Ginetta will be unleashing the raw power of their G40R as part of the MSVR Championships at Cadwell Park next weekend (21/22ndJuly) after entering a car in a pair of races around the famous Lincolnshire circuit.
Ginetta plan to run their ‘race car for the road’ in both the MSVR Team Trophy and as part of their single-make Total Quartz Ginetta GT5 Challenge – which usually runs in support of the British GT/F3 series – but takes a round at Cadwell after opting not to join the headliners at Nurburgring earlier this year.
Ginetta Championships Manager Max Gregory said; “The fact that these two championships appear on the same weekend gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate the G40R’s ability to be used as a daily drive as well as a race car. The G40R is eligible within the Total Quartz Ginetta GT5 Challenge, MSV Team Trophy and MSV Track Day Trophy, and gives our current and future road car owners a cost effective, competitive alternative to track days.”
Cadwell Park gives Ginetta the chance to show that not only do they make world-beating race cars, but at the heart of their G40R road car, the ethos of speed and track-suitability remains intact.
The G40R shares a number of characteristics with its G40 racing sibling, representing the culmination of Ginetta’s racing pedigree translated perfectly into a road car, and the MSVR Championships provides the perfect opportunity for Ginetta to showcase the versatility of their new model.
The cars will be piloted by Ginetta factory driver and 2011 Formula KGP champion Michael Simpson and Ian Parsons – who has already claimed a Ginetta podium slot this year in the opening rounds of the 2012 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup at Brands Hatch.
Striking the perfect balance between race car performance and road car usability, the G40R is built around the same FIA approved chassis and lightweight composite body, as used in the highly successful G40 race cars, the G40R is also equipped with a stylish lightweight interior.
With up to 30 of the Yorkshire-based marques set to descend on Cadwell Park this weekend; it looks set to be a very British outing.
