Reigning Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup driver Carl Breeze is set to return to the championship with TCR - the team which drove him to success – in a bid to retain his title for another year.
The driver from Kings Lynn realised his dream of becoming Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup Champion at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit on 21st October 2012, following a season which saw a run of 18 consecutive podiums out of a possible 19.
Breeze said; “It’s great to come back to the Ginetta GT Supercup and defend my title with TCR, who are a great team. Although it’s a very late deal and with no testing as yet, I am very confident of starting the year well this weekend.”
Lawrence Tomlinson, Chairman of Ginetta added; “Having Carl back in the paddock to defend his title is testament to the success and enjoyment of the Michelin Ginetta GT Superucp. As the returning champion, he certainly is the one to beat, but with a lot of quick drivers signed up to the championship already, it’s going to be a close one. “
After coming close to securing the title in 2010 & 2011, Breeze had a disappointing start to the 2012 season – at one point being almost 120 points behind the championship leader – before things started to look up as the championship moved to Oulton Park as the season neared the halfway point.
Lee Brookes, TCR Team Owner said; “It’s been great working with Carl and it's great he is back to defend his title with the number one on the car. I'm really looking forward to this year has we have a very strong team with Carl, Mark [Davies] & Jamie [Orton] and its possible that anyone of these could be the 2013 Champion.”
Breeze added; “I’m itching to get going and I am more determined than ever to do the double. It will be a proud moment seeing the number one on my car. Thanks to everyone who has made this possible.”
With just a few days before the action unfolds in Kent, one thing is for certain, Breeze has his sights firmly set on becoming the first ever Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup double winner as he joins Jamie Orton and Mark Davies at the TCR squad.
